Steubenville might have the guard tandem in the entire district in the coaches son Haney and Wheeling Park transfer Davis who both averaged 20+PPG last year. Dover is always tough and even with the coaching change I wouldn't have any reason to think otherwise. Do you know who all they return?
Always Dangerous, but probably Not as good as they’ve Been !

Looks like a total of 72 teams total in all division in the SE District for the 2024-25 season. Break down:

7 ............. (14)

... I may be off a couple as I think (if I recall from last season) Miller and/or Crooksville is/are moving to the East District for the upcoming season ... if anyone can verify yes or no for those teams please let me know ...
Crooksville has transferred to the East District with Ripley joining the Southeast, so we will continue with 71 schools in the Southeast District.

East District just posted their brackets. Looks like the D3 schools will play each other in their own bracket then combine for a single District final.

I had wondered how they were going to do that with the distance the district covers. Any indication where the final will be?

... so a district FINAL between the "winner of the East pool of teams" vs the "winner of the Southeast pool of teams" ? I haven't seen or heard of how the post season will be played out ie. play at individual higher seed team gyms? or a neutral court location for multiple games with 1 or 2 winners headed to the Convo? district play AT the Convo or just District finals at the Convo? regional play at the Convo all divisions? ... have they even decided how the post season will look for all divisions?

I’d be okay with it still as long as you are reaching the district title game if you win a sectional. Then, you’d be the best in your area at least instead of one of the 8 best like it has been in D3/D4 for years.

The reality on OHSAA's basketball tournament set up is that geographical sectionals within a district are a thing of the past. Yet there was value in having the old school sectionals simply because of tradition, and tradition binds generations together and help keep small communities together. That said district play is better for competition and rewards teams who have earned high seedings through the quality of their play throughout the season.

It’s cool for schools that maybe never ever win but beating a 9-13 team in round 1 feels a bit short of cutting nets and printing shirts….now it’ll be even less. These kids have already went through the ranks winning “state”, “regional”, “national”, “galactic” championships at age 10 beating 6 teams that paid $1200 to get into the prestigious tournament in Cannanville Indiana. In 25 years every high school postseason will start at “state”

You are correct on the big picture. Still I remember 60+ years ago when Clay, Green, and South Webster had to win a double elimination play in tourney to even reach the sectionals in Scioto County. Even the nobodies had something to play for in old Grant Gym.

Given the numbers, there will be 2 teams in D4 and 2 teams in D7 from SEO that will play zero sectional games next season. They will go straight to a district semifinal game at the time of the draw.

The OHSAA has posted the Regional pairings on there website under the boys basketball section- girls are also posted. The dates and sites have are TBD. The Regionals will be March 4-10. After the Regional Championships the OHSAA will announce the State Semi-Finals matchups and they will be played March 11-16. The State finals will be in Dayton on March 21-22- there are 3 finals on Friday and 4 finals on Saturday. This will be a new format with the 7 Divisions.

No Ready, Prep, Cols Academy, or Africentric at the convo in d5…well that’s assuming the convo is still utilized for regionals.

Side note, Richmond Heights and Lutheran East are D5 in addition to the central district privates.
