SOC I,II,III Predictions

Post by bobcats94 »

I am excited to get to watch all of our local teams battle against each other soon. I wasn't able to catch a lot of scrimmages over the summer and any inputs I have would be based off last year or talking to others throughout the community.

SOC I - I have no clue what most of these schools have coming back or kids who have improved but I would imagine Notre Dame would be favored. Most of these teams really struggled last year compared to previous years.

SOC II - Symmes Valley, Western, and Eastern should be clear favorites. Each of these schools believe they have what it takes. Western has the scoring edge with Janes, Haggy, and incoming freshman Owens but may lack the depth and size the other two teams can bring each night. Eastern losing White will hurt but they still have Leist and an athletic surrounding squad. Symmes beat Eastern in the tourney last year and I think showed that they shouldn't be over looked. I have watched Western recently and will surprise people if they are looking at their record last year. I would pick Eastern/Western splitting right now if I were to bet but should be very good games. Ordered would go 1-Eastern/Western, 3-Symmes, 4-Northwest, 5-South Gallia, 6-Oak Hill

SOC III - Webster and Minford are on another level, even with Webster losing Sommer I think they would be a clear second for those taking Minford. Waverly will be competitive this year as they have a loaded sophomore class and a good incoming freshman. Burg should be as well. I think this division will be very competitive outside of Minford. 1 - Minford, 2-Webster, 3-Waverly, 4-Burg, 5-Valley, 6-West

Would love to hear others thoughts???

For the SOC 1 Notre Dame from what saw from them against the Peake the other night they will a team to beat. They played physical, rebounded and can shoot the 3 's.

Symmes Valley looks like the best team in the soc 2
Notre Dame easily wins in the soc 1 in my opinion
minford and Webster split the conference in my opinion also

What makes you say Symmes Valley looks like the best team? I have not been able to watch them but I would have thought they were the team to beat until I read this thread. I agree Eastern will be tough but I am not sure I see Western winning. I think I would have them 3rd.

1: ND, Glenwood, St. Joe, Green, Clay, East
2: SV, Eastern, Western, Northwest, SG, OH
3: Minford, Waverly, SW, Burg, Valley, West

Meet the team at South Webster was interesting last night. The team looks to be shaping up nicely and could be back in the same situation in the tournament as last year. Only one problem, where was Swanky last night?

Probably driving home from Columbus. I’ll be lucky to make it before tip off this season

We’ll see how much the stock went up across several players to compensate for the loss of Sommer. All in all probably the same caliber as last year as long as Eli shows up every night.

Sommer is definitely a tough loss, but as long as Robert’s shows up and puts on the show that he should. I think the Jeeps will be solid. Also looking for Barnard to make a big impact for the Jeeps this season.

I agree with that SWBASKETBALL I think Barnard will be a key contributor to Websters success this season. I also believe that Shupert is going to be key for the Jeeps this year and has been playing great at scrimmages so far this year.

SW will need to find some scoring help to pick up the slack from Sommer. The guards have to be able to score on occasion, in my opinion, for them to take it a step further than last season.

They should be very strong defensively and Roberts can take over most, if not all, games.

I don’t think scoring will be a problem for the Jeeps. If the starting 5 consists of
Robert’s
Shupert
Barnard
White
Mault
I believe all these guys will get the job done on the offensive side. If you need guys, I think Webster has a bench to go to that has McClintic, and Stephens who can also shoot for the Jeeps. Defensively I think they will be fine as well. These guys will communicate and hustle and do whatever takes to pull out the win. Big expectations for the Jeeps, and I think they know what they are.

Tickets are going to go fast. South Webster only gets 300 tickets. The team gets first dibbs, staff gets 2nd, and then the community gets whats left. This is going to be a great game for the jeep community and Swank I think they will give you some tickets.

... Scoring I feel will NOT be the issue with SW ... as the Jeeps have offense at all of the levels especially when/if Roberts goes down low ... perimeter scoring - check, getting to the rim off the dribble - check, a take over the game offensive player with length/height - check ... the one question mark I have is the "r" word - rebounding - at both ends of the floor ... when the season starts my question mark will be answered by the play on the court ...

There should be some tickets for the game. If Swanker don’t get any tickets, then the Jeeps games aren’t the same. Swanker gotta be there

I’m sure I’ll be able to scoop a couple up. I don’t see 300 Websterites driving 4 hours away. Not everyone’s dedicated to the cause

Tyler Sommer. Very large contributor on the glass last year for South Webster. Big loss on multiple levels.
