Warren 48
Monroe Central 59 a final ...

On paper and after watching 2 Monroe Central games via Hudl ( 1 a win and a 2nd a loss) - I had this pegged as going to be a defensive battle, MC had more fire power ... Warren had the deeper bench ... overall advantage MC ... as the game unfolded, literally all of those "talking points" played out - each teams defense turned the opposition over 18 times on the game ... Warren went 10 deep while MC played 8 ... the tipping point in this one was the Seminoles had more offensive weapons as 7 of the 8 Noles that saw the floor scored the ball .. the MC bench tossed in 18 points (14 pts from sr. Jacob Fogle in the 4th period to give MC a cushion including back to back to back to back 3's) for Warren the bench went deep but the scoring was but 4pts on the night ... the Seminole defense did a great job taking away the Warrior inside game - holding the WHS bigs down low - Chase Lupardus (5pts) and Hayden Wells (0) ... in the opening 2 qtrs the WHS scoring was from Nick Cressey with 10 pts - all in the paint/ 4 pts on putback buckets/ 4pts finishing in transition ... sr. Jacob Seally added the lone trey for Warren in the half (3 pts) .... sr Julian Stadelman was limited to 6 pts in the first 2 qtrs ... Warren trailed on the scoreboard at the end of both qtrs 10 -13 after one and 22-25 at intermission ... for MC the 2 main scorers were 6-3 sr. Chance Allen (12 pts) and 6-1 sr. Tucker Howell with a pair of 1st period three pointers helped pace the Noles ... Dylan Parden/Corbin Farnsworth chipped in 2pts each in the opening half ... Warren 22 Monroe Central 25 after 2 ... the scoring coming out of the locker rooms was a wash as MC put up 11 pts in the 3rd and WHS 10 ... the difference - all of Warren's scoring came from their 6-0 sr PG Julian Stadelman - a pair of 3's bookended a drive to the rim & finish (2 pts) and a midrnage jumper (2pts) ... no one else added to the offense for the Warriors in the period ... from the cheap seats - the defense played a part - taking away the inside game of the Warriors , but for the first time in awhile I saw hesitation with the ball / thinking/ deciding not to shoot ... it appeared that the Warriors were looking for Stadelman as THE offense ... Sealey struggled outside of the 1 trey in the 2nd qtr., Connor Barry - didn't attempt a 3 ball in the game ... Cressey/Anthony beyond the blocks weren't looking to put it up ... made the game a 1 vs 4 offensive game ... MC was led by Tucker Howell's 5 pts in the 3rd (a trey to go with a drive & finish), Parden added 2 pts/ Silva his only pts of the game on a 2 pter at the rim ... Cooper Howell went 2/2 from the line to help the Seminoles extended the lead to 4 pts ... Monroe Central 36 Warren 32 after 3 ... Warren got 2/2 from Stadelman at the line, a Stadelman drive to the rim for 2pts, and a Colin Anthony drive for 2pts ... MC answered with a Farnsworth transition bucket off of a forced WHS turnover , Chance Allen on a drive & finish 2pts followed by a sr. Jacob Fogle drive to the rim for 2pts ... Fogle drained a 3 from the left corner as Warren looked to jump the ball on the perimeter ... timeout Warren ... 38-45 MC with 4:39 to play ... coming out of the TO, Fogel continued to put the Noles on his back as the senior, off the bench, scored the MC next 9 pts with 3 straight treys ( 4 threes total in a row)... 14 pts for Fogle in qtr.... Warren tried to answer with Stadelman netting 9 pts in the period ... Anthony/Lupardus/ jr. Caleb Tullius each added 2 pts apiece in the qtr ... not enough as Monroe Central took this one going away 59-48 a final ...
