Circleville 13 Fairfield Union 12 after 1 ... the 2nd period was all defense as turnovers ruled to the frame, FU turned the ball over 3 times while CHS countered with 5 turnovers of the own ... for the Tigers Kole Nungester continued to go strong into the paint getting to the line for 1/2 FTs, scoring on a 4 ft floater across the lane , finishing with a drive from the right elbow finishing at the rim for 2 pts/7 in the half ... the only other points in qtr was an Ed Kirk stickback for 2pts ... FU was led by the youngster Kline, the 6-4 fr. hit a trey from near the top of the key, while showing solid footwork in the paint hitting a one-handed putback 2pts/5pts in the period/9 at the half ... Mason Ailes hit a corner 3 to go with Keaton Webb scoring on a drive right of the lane 2pts ... Fairfield Union 22 Circleville 20 at the half ... not sure what the messages were at intermission in the locker rooms but whatever Coach Shaeffer said to the FU troops he needs to bring it back again down the road - the Falcons came out playing excellent defense, turning the Tigers over 5 times while only having 1 miscue on their own ball ... the FUHS D held Circleville to 6pts in the quarter - Riley Jenkins hitting a 2pter in the paint to go with a 3 ball with 1 minute and change left in the period ... Blain Fowler pitched in 1/2 from the free throw line to push the team total to 6 pts in the 3rd .... while the Tigers struggled to put up points, the Falcons made it look "workmanlike" in stretching their lead as the seniors took over the stat sheet along with sophomore Trevor Utzinger's 5pts on a strip and score transition bucket followed by a triple from in front of the FU bench ... seniors Isaiah DeLong scored on a look down in the paint 2pts, took the ball to the rim for 2pts & 1 before chipping in a 3 from the left corner 8pts in the qtr for the sr shooting guard ... sr. Jason Iser finished at the rim on back to back plays 4pts and Keagen Arnett added 2pts on a drive and finish ... FU 21-6 in the quarter ... Fairfield Union 43 Circleville 26 after 3 ... with the brand of basketball that FU plays - fundamentally sound D, a methodical/workman like/controlled offense - the Tigers weren't going to get enough touches to get back in the game ... thru 3 quarters CHS was but 2/12 from behind the arc ... the on ball D for FU keeping shooters off their spots ... in the 4th the Tigers made 2/6 from three, only one other fg a 2pt midrange jumper from Blain Fowler ... Tigers won the quarter 9-8 but lost the game ... Keagen Arnett took control in the paint offensively for FU adding 6pts to his total while Kline added a 2 pter from 6 ft ...
