That’s what I figured would happen. Good list.

I’d probably flip Fairland/SWebster and move Eastern Pike up a little more too, but it’s good overall.

Eastern could be a threat in D5. Only sound loss was to North Adams 2nd game of the year. In D5 I'd say it's Minford and Fairland at the top but, Chesapeake, Zane Trace, Ironton, Eastern Brown could all play the spoiler.

Good list

Tournaments will be wild this year. I looked at the girls brackets and just some weak weak brackets due to 7 divisions.

Could be a lot of “our school’s greatest team ever” resulting from it

I feel if we make it to the final four and do happen to win it all, good for us, but it’s watered down.

The positive is that that team would likely have made it to at least the Final Four in the 4 division era. But, I totally understand how it is watered down and I actually feel bad for the kids in that situation, because it’s hard to argue against it being watered down.

I'll do the "early seeding week" breakdown by divisions Monday ... then again Saturday night after the games are played & before the Official "non-pfloyd" MaxPrep/OHSAA rankings & game matchups are posted Sunday the 9th ... busy week! haven't decided where the pfloyd tour turns & lands for the Week that IS ... I'll look closer Monday as I won't be traveling Monday evening ... Tuesday's possible games - South Webster @ Waverly, Zane Trace @ Jackson, Fairfield @ Miami Trace ... a Wednesday possibility Western Pike @ Oak Hill ... Friday choices - The Peake @ Fairland/ Canal @ Logan/ Jackson @ Washington CH ... Saturday looking at South Webster @ Fairland or Westfall @ Meigs ... the Committee will get together and decide Monday evening over a Pizza Crossing Pizza ...

I know you haven’t watched a lot of girls games recently (to say the least lol) but we’ll have the call on Fairland at Portsmouth on Monday. Portsmouth is #1 in D5 and Fairland has an excellent chance of reaching the Final Four on their trek through the SW Regional

Besides that, we’ll also have Oak Hill at Northwest on Friday too.

Unless someone can find information to the contrary, only games completed Friday night (Feb. 7) count in the OHSAA computer RPI rankings. A potential factor as there are a few key games on Saturday.

If that’s the case this is a miss for the Rankings. I’m
Still not sure why the whole season can’t count for RPI. I understand that it takes a little bit to get all the brackets made and out but we should be able To get at least another week, and for sure another day (Saturday) in with the RPI

Football can wait until the regular season is over, but every other sport can’t even get the entire next to last week of the regular season in. It’s a major flaw and also why you see so many important games that are postponed due to weather being tossed into the last week of the season.

... in the era of high tech, analytics , data driven decision making ... I'm more than sure that the "formula" for computing the RPI is set in stone, plug in the season long accumulated scores etc. the 'puter spits out the answers in this case the seedings in a matter of seconds ... Why the heck can't the Saturday games count? ... scores can't be trusted to be put in by midnight ? ... Can't take into account the entire season ... can't wait on ONE day of scores? ... it "ain't" done by hand ... No OHSAA upgrades on their computers? maybe still using a Radio Shack Color Computer from way back ...Maybe they have to have time to go through and double-check /verify ALL of the MaxPrep data ... MaxPrep errors! never mind, I fully understand now ...

Once I have my brackets setup in Excel for the divisions based on # of teams in each division. It takes me about 45 seconds to update the seeding order based on RPI (which then auto-populates the bracket) and printed. The time consuming portion is entering game dates/time and adjusting brackets to # of teams. All of that can be done before hand.

I would hope that SEDAB is doing something similar... but maybe not.

When is the cutoff for the drawing? Friday or Saturday?

Friday at 11:59pm

So, any game played from Saturday and beyond doesn’t matter for seeding purposes.

I’m really not a fan of MaxPreps RPI for multiple reasons. I don’t like how they calculate out of state opponents and the weights provided to divisions. Particularly disadvantaged if you play in a league and have very few non-league options.

I'll be heading down 35E to watch ZT @ Jackson. Leesburg @ Miami Trace should be a good one as well. Miami Trace the lone team in the SE district with an unblemished record. There's a team from the Scioto County hills that will be meandering on up into the flatlands of Fayette County the 11th that could very well put an end to that. Leesburg will be no pushover but I like the Panthers at home in this one. Drove up to MT on Sat afternoon to watch the thriller vs Jackson. Loved the old "Panther Pit" but the new MT gym is really nice as well.

SOC3 is 55-29 combined record and 5 teams in the top 25 and only one team with a losing record currently (Wheelersburg). Tells you how good of quality SOC3 basketball is at this part of the season.
