Should just scrub the whole program clean and hopefully repair relationships during the off season.
Practices during the fair? That is August. No contact period.

That was my first thought too.

When is the fair? From what I found, there’s the no contact period immediately following the season for 28 days, then the 10 day rule from June 1-July 31. Then basketball appears to have a secone no contact counting backward 28 days from Labor Day. That seems to leave the first week of August as a unique opportunity for basketball. Not saying it’s the best PR move, but is it possible that’s the reason (the one non-dead period week) that the coach tried to press for participation that week?

Wow, sounds like the heat is cranked in Tiger Town!
Sounds like too many egos on one court/stands!

I have watched Waverly several times this year and there is only one kid that consistently hustles on that court! Many take a lot of plays off and seem to go through the motions!

Sounds like there will be some new home addresses made up before next year!

Yes fair in Ross county is usually the first week of August. In my opinion making kids choose between that and “mandatory” basketball practice is a choice

My prediction is with the way this season is going few will be playing or even left at Waverly if the coaching doesn’t change or parents keep feeding egos

When a coach can't coach because the majority of the parents believe their kid is entitled to so much more makes it very difficult for any program. Some players are intentionally not doing what they are supposed to because mom/dad is at home or in the stands telling them to do it another way. And then if the coach pulls the player out of the game for that reason then all of the chatter on social media and the public goes nuts. How is any coach supposed to be successful with that type of parent base?

I heard there was a Waverly school board member being pretty aggressive towards the woman as well. Is there any truth to that?

It was his son who tried to drag him away from behind I was told that’s who it was atleast he almost went down towards the door but took a step back towards the woman but no, the woman was actually being aggressive towards him in the start coming out of nowhere to join in with the coaches wife, there was no hands laid on her and he wasn’t in her face but that’s all I saw maybe after I left it escalated some more not sure

I made an account to address this since it was brought to my attention that my dad who is the school board member who you brought up is being talked about, I watched the whole situation after the game I’ll give you everything I saw honestly, I’m a senior at Waverly and I was on the team until this situation happened which made it uncomfortable for me to want to go back, I don’t think basketball should be tearing friendships apart and have parents arguing with each other which is seeming to be after every game, I came out the locker room after the game and was with my family and girlfriend this is when I saw my coaches wife saying something about being called a b*tch I’m not sure by who but shortly after this she approached a man in the corner of the gym by the doors yelling at him up in his face and I did hear him call her a b*tch after this she walked away from that dude who was supposedly drunk a few minutes pass and now my dad is down by that same door where the “ drunk man “ was standing a few minutes before I told my
Mom bye when I was about to go board the bus to leave this is when I saw my coaches wife walk past my dad who is a board member at Waverly my dad told her something along the lines of don’t worry about him he’s probably drunk this is when she started yelling at my dad I heard her saying something along the lines of you should be defending me your a board member not exactly sure what she said but then one of my teammates moms came in and started unleashing on my dad while she was walking over I started walking over to my dad to try to get him away because I knew my coaches wife yelling at my dad was gonna do no good for me and make it a bad situation I wrapped up my dad from the back left side of him and tried to drag him
Away he almost fell and pushed off a little to catch balance not knowing it was me and took a step or two forward which could have came across as aggressive I guess but he was not being aggressive to my teammates mom at all he never laid a hand on her got in her face or anything of that matter it was actually her coming up to him for no reason when he wasn’t involved of any of this drama, all in all I just think this needed to be addressed because this is all just a joke and a bad and embarrassing situation for our community hope I cleared some things up ( security footage would back up everything I said )

I'm not saying who is in the right or who is in the wrong and I really do hope the video footage gets to the bottom of it. I wish that sports could just be about the kids playing ball. I didn't say he laid a hand on anyone; just that he charged towards her but then stopped about half way. I've also never been involved in any altercations where someone who isn't being aggressive towards someone else has to be physically restrained and tried to be pulled out of it.

As I’ve already said I wanted to remove my dad from the situation SO it wouldn’t be awkward for me to go back to basketball he didn’t have to be physically restrained idk where we’re getting that from, I don’t know if you want drama or what but nobody charged towards anyone. In what world would I want my coaches wife in my dad’s face when my dad was just trying to walk out of the gym. He wasn’t physically restrained by anyone.

I think this thread should be put to rest! We all get it there are some issues there, but I rest assured there are issues with every team one way or another!
