Re: Monroe Central 24-25
Congratulations to the Seminoles!
They completely shut down everything that Marion Local wanted to do and they were able to handle a super physical game to win their first title. I thought they carried themselves 10x better than ML did and even on the weak calls, reacted minimally and just moved on.
The younger Howell is a stud too!

Great job by the Seminole "fan base" today, leading their team to the Div. vi STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

You made me LOL with that one. I'm afraid those days are over. The old high school will most likely be demolished sometime this year. Spent four of the best years of my life there in that building, and somehow avoided falling off the stage. Not saying that I didn't go running after a loose ball and take a flying leap off that thing into the orchestra pit a time or two, but I never actually fell off!rickoshay wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 5:50 pm Hope no one falls off the stage at the high school tonight Steely. The suds/soda/you-name-it will flow in Woodstick tonight at every watering hole in the county.
Re: Monroe Central 24-25
Wonderful game by MC. They were able to negate the inside game of ML, especially in the first half. ML had 10 until late in the first half. Farnsworth was probably player of the game leading them in points and playing strong defense. Thought they slowed it down a little early but the foul situation may have contributed to that. Regardless great win and great for the community. Heard about the Skyvue connection but wasn’t aware of the Bethel connection. Storybook.

First state boys basketball championship for the upper Ohio Valley since 1943. Yorkville HS was the last state champion from this part of the state. Hard to believe that Havlicek didn't win one at Bridgeport.

Words cannot express how proud I am of this team. Nothing happens in Woodsfield. We can use this community pride for once. Thank you Noles

Re: Monroe Central 24-25
Agree. At least WTOV-TV did a great job of covering the game, and frankly MC's entire run through the tournament. The Intelligencer, The Times Leader, and the Marietta Times all used to do a great job of covering HS sports, but not so much anymore.carbon_dated wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 1:48 pm Steely, that's a good story. Local papers here missed the mark.
