Logan BOE votes to apply to Licking County League

Post by pfloyd »

Apparently the Licking County League has asked Logan (and others to apply to the Licking County League) ... the Logan BOE has voted to apply for acceptance into the LCL tonight ...

Licking County League (10 schools)
Granville (Licking), Heath (Licking), Johnstown-Monroe (Licking), Johnstown Northridge (Licking), Lakewood (Licking), Licking Heights (Licking), Licking Valley (Licking), Newark Catholic (Licking), Utica (Licking), Watkins Memorial (Licking)

... Zanesville has also been asked to apply by the LCL ... not sure when all of this plays out ... it would appear that the SEOAL is going to be officially "dissolved " in the near future ...

If Logan and Zanesville are the only ones that go in that would be 12 schools with the top 6 being

Logan.....II
Watkins Memorial....II
Licking Heigths.....II
Zanesville.....III
Granville.....III
Licking Valley.....IV

Bottom 5

Lakewood.....IV
Johnstown Monroe.....IV
Heath.....IV
Utica.....V
Northridge.....V
New Catholic.....VI

Put football division down since all basketball go to play offs

Maybe they want two divisions? By adding 2/3 bigger schools along with Licking Heights, Watkins Memorial and Granville it can happen. The D4/D5 schools in the smaller school division?
Just a guess....

Since this is the basketball forum here are the Divisions for basketball:
Logan..... I
Watkins Memorial.....I
Licking Heights.....I
Zanesville.....I
Granville.....II
Licking Valley.....II

It comes down to Logan has to do something. If Logan gets accepted into the LCL, it could be a good thing! 6 schools either D1 or D2 in basketball. And, most of these schools are pretty good in sports. Maybe not in every sport , but they have good teams. I would like this move. And Logan can always keep the old rivalries in non-conference.

Great idea. They need in a league and this one seems to fit pretty well for them. Hope it works out.

This will be a sad day for Pfloyd.

Logan will no longer be accepted in the Elite 8 rankings ...

:)

This is not a done deal yet, but there are reasons to be optimistic.

My understanding is that there are a number of factors at play, including the addition of up to 4 schools to join with Watkins and Licking Heights to make a 6 team "Big School" division.

Granville and Licking Valley would move to the "small school" division with 8 teams.

I believe Zanesville is the best bet to move. Logan's fate may depend on who some of the other "big" schools looking to move are. For instance, the last time the LCL was looking at expansion it included Mt Vernon. Mt Vernon (and Big Walnut) balked at the idea of traveling to Logan. If one or both of those schools are part of the set up, I think it is unlikely Logan is accepted.

They have never been an elite 8 team anyway. See ya Logan.

I have not heard about either school factoring into this. I did hear Tri Valley, Newark and Sheridan could be in play, with Logan and Zanesville. I think it could very well happen if the logistics are done right. I like that league with Watkins Memorial, Licking Hts and the others.

They need to invite Jackson too. If that league really wants to step up in competition, unlike any of the other leagues in this part of the state, they will want Jackson along with Logan. That is if they are not too scared.

What would the travel times be if Jackson did get an invite?
They'd all have to be pushing 2hrs or more one way to every LCL school.

Absolutely not. Rules are rules. Logan will be a central district team playing in a central district league. They are soooooo out ... lol

... 93dog is correct ... Logan will no longer be ranked ... no SEO league affiliation , with 50% or more of their league having the opportunity to go to the Convo for the SE Districts ... Chiefs would be out of the rankings ...
