Wow what can you say ? 2 game series for the league . Jim's Gym should be rocking for this one and the big crowd will be great . Call all your Aunts , Uncles , Cousins, friends and former friends and spread the word on great High School Basketball being played . Come out and support the Purple Gang ! Not sure about the Post season but this will be the last regular Home game of the year. Go Chiefs!!!!!!!!!

Wow what a game this was against Warren! Lots of contributions from many players, that was some good basketball. At least co-champs, but Chieftains don't share.

The Chiefs will have their first round sectional game at #5 seed Dublin Jerome. One more game left before then, should be a good one to prepare for the tournament, at the warrior dome.

In the Central District you begin with the highest seed and they can put themselves on the bracket anywhere they would like, then the next seed. In this manner a lower seed getting a bye often happens.

Not sure the specifics of your particular bracket, but yes, the bye can keep falling if other teams choose a game over the bye.

An example from another district where there were two byes, the #1 and #2 seeds BOTH chose a first round game instead of a bye but both went into the bracket with a bye, meaning whoever they would face in the Sectional Final would only have to win one game (while the highest seed would have to win two).

In that case, the #4 seed actually took one bye, but their single Sectional game will likely be against the #2 team. That left an open bracket (with no byes) for the #5 team, who now has no higher seeded teams to beat. From there, everyone wanted to avoid the #1 team so even though there was a bye sitting there, nobody wanted it. Eventually, the #13 (out of 14) team took the bye so they only have a 1-game Sectional, but they'll have to beat the #1 team to win it. EDIT: At that point, #13 couldn't avoid the #1 team, so they took the bye which left #14 facing off in the in the 1st round with the #1 team. So, literally every single team picked a line away from the #1 team, leaving that bye there until the end.

Hope that makes sense.

So in your team's case, picking a tough 1st round matchup instead of taking a bye may have still been preferable to taking a bye and getting an even tougher opponent in the final.
