But if warren is some great powerhouse, why are they only beating little old FF by small margins? Warren is a good team, but don't kid yourself. They aren't near the top in Ohio high school basketball.

Well said! You have agood head on you, Froshwarriorfrosh wrote:Warren will be looking for other opponents to replace Meigs, New Lex, etc, but they should continue to play FFand Belpre...they're competitive games and great for the fans....and there are many sides to scheduling up or over scheduling....how did it turn out for Chilli this year?...13-7 and getting hammering I think by 20+ in four of those losses to big DI schools around Columbus....IMO those games did nothing to prepare Chilli in any way to beat Warren the second time....only outcome was Chilli got demoralized mentally and losing got to be acceptable to them this year (this is not a hit on Chilli, they did what they thought best for their team, results just didn't turn out like they hoped).....so why go to Columbus and get your butt kicked just to say you are one of the big boys, if it really doesn't help you?? Warren's schedule is pretty good but yes Maddox will be looking for 2-3 more competitive opponents for next year....

The difficulty with scheduling better opponents in the Mid Ohio Valley is this. Why would any team from Cbus want to play a Division 2 game against a quality opponent that is 2+ hours away. It would be just the opposite of what was played last night. The Fort wins and people hate on Warren. Warren wins and they schedule a patsie. We tried to schedule some "better" opponents from the Cbus area in another sport and I was continually shot down. It does them very little as far as post-season draw for a D1 team to win against Warren. Look at how D2 teams that play in a D3-laden conference get treated at tournament seeding time.
Re: Fort Frye (15-3) @ Warren (16-2) 2/21
next year, teams are allowed to play 22 games, instead of 20. so that gives warren more space for "better" teams.

This superior bench, strength talk is way off. French hitting four three's in a row beat fort frye. I was at the game and could care less who won. I thought warren was beat. They couldn't score down low and they couldn't drive. Truthfully they looked rattled and lost. Unlike alot of their home games the game was officiated very evenly. Maddox called a timeout and they came right out and hit the three. Fort Frye could have stood that one and still won but the other three 3's were daggers. Warren won the game but if I was a warren fan I would be concerned. All this posting about bench depth and strength and you have to chuck three's and MAKE THEM to beat smallish fort frye.
Warren is the king of the county-they also have the least success in the tourney out of the county from a history standpoint. To be a good D2 school ( their very close to D1) and make a tourney run a small school like fort frye shouldn't even be in the game. I did not like what I saw out of the warren team last night. Theirs alot of weaknesses that a comprable D2 school can expose. For example most good D2 schools have several Athletic 6'4" types that can move. The 1st thing I would do is put one on French. If he is gonna make that shot he is gonna have to shoot over someone taller than 5'9" chandler lang. Incidentally I thought chandler did a hell of a job contesting the shot and fighting through the screens, he just wasn't quite tall enough. If I was a fort frye fan I would be happier in defeat than warren in victory. I could see a deep tourney run out of the cadets. For you warrior fans I hope you make a deep run but your gonna have to play better than you did last night.

Chandler Lang is a great defender he shut down 6-6 D1 recruit Mark Winters sat.He is strong and def the teams best defender.Warren was running 3 or 4 picks to get French open.He made 4 big 3s in 4th but that was all his points.

Warren was out of sync. Why or how doesnt matter. As far as the tourny run goes I dont feel that past history matters. We have already prooved team play prevails. We have surpassed a school record set in the late 60's early 70's. The next thing on the list is beat New Lex. Reguardless of their strenght or talent level we will win and move on. We are ready to show what we are made of.
