does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
Re: does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
It seems to me the community (parents and players) were behind the other coaches and that didn't seem to make a difference. McClung is simply the next in line of the long line of rotating coaches at Fairland. This program will change only when the board and administration start getting behind the kids and the program instead of the flavor of the month. Regardless, I wish the team well.

The community of Proctorville and eastern Lawrence County should really get hehind McClung and his staff and offer him the same support that they gave Belville.
Coach Mindy Chapman has offered to help coach the boys team, but McClung is afraid that she will turn the boys program into the powerhouse that she has turned the girls into over the past three years. So he had to decline her offer for fear of her coaching ability.
That's good stuff DF5

Bgmonster is right. I'm exhausted from standing up for Wilcoxen and Bellville. Our board has made a mockery out of the elections. The board doesn't care who the parents or athletes support. I wish the players luck-that's who's gonna need it.

Sportsnutmom, i think its pathetic the way you and other parents make a mockery out of everything that goes on at fairland. it hurts the kids more when parents such as yourself and the others on here never quit moaning and groaning about everything. you guys are the one's that start all the controversy in my honest opinion. if you could just shut your mouth and not cry when things dont go your way, the team would be much better off without the controversy that you create. however, nowadays, some parents are extremely overboard with their views which results in negative actions of everything around these athletes. its a shame the way some parents are nowadays. a real shame!! and if i do recall, it was belvelle that resigned so how now is it that you blame it on the board? you truly are one reason that many great coaches do not succeed. they dont want to deal with outrageous parents!!

Re: does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
First, if the parents at Fairland weren't involved as you suggest, there would be no uniforms, equipment, or other necessities of the game that the Board fails to provide. Fairland sports are almost solely supported by fundraising and the Boosters (parents) so to say that the parents shouldn't be involved is ridiculous. Second, coaches at Fairland are rotated in and out on the whim of the sitting Board. Example, the newly hired boys basketball coach was fired a few years back from the same position. Was he fired/hired on his merits as a coach or fired/hired based on who was on the Board? An interesting trend seems to be taking place at Fairland in that the Board has managed over the course of the last few months to "clean house" and its newly hired coaches are all former Fairland coaches that are now either a head coach or an assistant in both football and basketball and a couple are ADs to boot. Way to multi-task Fairland!

Pooper,
Loyalty is one thing…but your blind allegiance & support for this messed up board of education (3 of them anyway) - no matter how illogical & no matter how much they go against the wishes of the vast majority of the community & no matter how unethical their ways...would seem to indicate that you may have ties to the board somehow.
One of the aforementioned coaches left because of a lack of cooperation he received. As for the other one…well, there are many factors that go into win/loss records, some the coach can control & some the coach cannot control. Most of the factors that led to his record were out of his control. Most of these board members either have hidden agendas or are incapable of logical thought.

You have a strange perception of what it means to have balls Pooper. Wilcoxen acted with class during his tenure at Fairland and left the same way despite the bogus reasons some board members used to justify their vote for non-renewal. Coach Belville also served with class and left after it was clear that he would get no support from the administration despite his work and success as a coach. It's clear Pooper that you've not been a supporter of either of these programs but are instead of member of the Fairland "good old boys" club whose sole claim to fame was reaching the first leg of the state football tournament once and the regionals in basketball 15 years ago. Whatever successes these new coaches enjoy, and I hope there will be many, will be owed in part to the coaches who just left.

You can be assured you will have one play after watching our girls play. Cross half court and lob to the big man, while everyone else watches.

once again, didn't coach belville resign on his own?? nobody pushed that man out the door, he resigned. and thank goodness the board had the balls to push the other out the door. 12-28 over four seasons with the amount of talent there doesn't cut it.

Re: does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
Just to clarify this BGMonster.I was part of the "The good ole'boy staff" from the 1990's.Along with McClung,Ward and Belville we had a 5 year run of success from 1993 to 1997.Our record in that 5 year span was 40-12.Oh and we were in the basketball regional 2 times in the 90s.1991 and 1996.1993 football season was alot of fun,I am still friends and keep in contact with alot of people from that team.

Re: does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
here we go again.i knew it would not take long for someone to get on here and talk about a kid or two is going to transfer from fairland.not surprised that it is coming from bucking red either since this is not the first time he has brought it up.the same kids' names continue to circulate about leaving.as a fairland fan, here is my thought: leave,go,don't let the door hit you in the a$%.just take your ball and go home..i am so tired of this talk about kids transferring.blah,blah,blah.many of us do not agree with some of the changes that are taking place(me included),but deal with it.try telling your kid to be a leader and rise above it.someday he or she may not like their boss.oh that's right,i quit.before anyone says something about trying to get to the next level,my response is simple, either they are good enough or they are not.of course, every parents kid is good enough to go to a major college.have i said anything about school and community pride?how about putting yourself clearly in front of your teammates and friends?whatever!!!as i said either you are good enough to play at the next level or you are not.at this stage,a year or two somewhere else is not going to be the key to elevate a kid.here is an idea.how about the kid busting his butt, stay focused,be a leader and do everything possible to be a winner and get yourself to the next level.sorry,i guess that concept is too complicated.instead, put your own self interests in front and be a part of the train wreck you will cause.oh well,if you are going to transfer, get on with it because i,for one,am tired of hearing about it.don't forget to take your baby bottles with you

Hey playsports there is more than one reason why these kids might transfer and if you know who I am then you would know I' ve always been a big Ironton fan. Have you been to an Ironton football game or basketball game. If so then you know the difference between the 2 towns. To make it simple for you one school gets behind their kids and the other one does not . My earlier post was not meant to stir the pot but to simply state what I've been hearing.

Didnt open enrollment end in March Bucking Red?Which means a kid would have to establish guardianship in that district or the entire family would have to move to that district?

Re: does anyone know if the fairland coach resigned last night?
Earp, since you are so intuned with the athletic programs at Fairland i would like your honest opinion of the state of the Fairland athletic program.Do you agree with the hires of the new football and basketball coaches? What kind of talent is in the school, top players etc. What does the future have in store next year and beyond? Does the community support the players and coaches? How are the facilities? The general attitudes of the players and coaches, etc.i have 2 middle school age boys and i have been thinking of moving into the district and frankly i have seen alot of controversy on this fourm and i'm beginning to have some doubts about enrolling my sons.I need an honest opnion and you seem to have been in the area for a while, thanks.Anybody else who cares to respond your opnion would be greatly appreciated.
