Lenington and Grosel had it going on offense, while there was a great team effort on defense. Futrel and Thompson were big factors defensively and rebounding. I don't have exact stats, but would like to see some. Anyone have any?

But they are well coached, play hard, and are tough to beat. 10-6 coming in compared to Marietta's 7-8. Marietta was fortunate to make the last score and win at Dover earlier, thanks in part I believe due to their go to guy(Mamarella who had 23 tonight) going down with an ankle then.

After Marietta lost the first quarter due to missing two bunnies and then had another bunny opportunity and over-passed and made a bad pass for a TO, but then the offense clicked in(I'd like to see the FG shooting percentages)and they won each of the last 3 qtrs by at least 4 points each playing excellently on the offensive end tonight.

Dover is big on holding for the last shot of the qtr which they did to perfection in the 1st to take a 4 point lead. Then in the 2nd Marietta went on a 10-2 run to take a 4 pt lead which Dover promptly erased by a 5 point run. That's when it looked like Marietta would hold for a last shot, but instead Grosel drove for a deuce, and then Dover had the chance for the last shot and lost the ball to Marietta with 10 sec left. Grosel was smart, and instead of the trap I thought he might fall into by just hanging outside and shooting a trey at the last second on which by that time the Dover defense wouldn't have to worry about the drive and be in his grille contesting the last shot. Instead, still having the threat of the drive he was able to get a relatively open trey attempt off with 5-6 seconds left and drained it for a 4 point lead at half.

Then in the 3rd the Tigers got going with Futrell getting a deuce, Williams getting two deuces, Riley getting a deuce and 2 FTs, and Lennington scoring 8 on a trey early and a trey late, the late one off what may have been Marietta's first offensive rebound of the game, a hotly contested one in which the ball was tipped up 2 or 3 times before Marietta cleared it out to a wide open Lennington who drained it to give a good working margin.

The 4th was Mamarella trying to keep Dover in the game. For a while it seemed he scored two or three each trip down, and Ravine got a trey in there too, and the lead got down to 47-45 with about 2.5 minutes left. And that is where Marietta lived rather than died by the trey as Lennington hit one, and then after Mamarella only made one of two FTs the next trip, Lennington drained another trey to get the lead up to 53-46 and that was too much for Dover to overcome. A very interesting, well played game, that was well officiated, except for maybe a couple calls!

I had Lennington with 20(4 treys, all in the 2nd half), Grosel with 16(2 treys, both in the 2nd qtr), Riley 6, Williams 6, Futrell 5, and Thompson 5(all in the 2nd qtr with a trey).

Fouls by qtr:
Marietta 2 2 2 5 = 11
Dover 1 2 3 4 = 10

FTs:
Dover 8/11 with one miss a call of the shooter stepping on the line
Marietta 3/4

Marietta Times shows Marietta was 7/9 on treys and 17/29 on deuces, while Dover was a very respectable 4/10 on treys and 13/30 on deuces. Both teams with 18 rebounds and 9 turnovers for Marietta and 7 for Dover.

Thanks mhs95. Tough road ahead for the Tigers. @athens, @zanesville, vs. warren, and @riverview. Should win the athens and riverview games, but on the road anything can happen. But zanesville and warren will be the true test to see if the tigers will be ready for tournament time. I'm not sure what seed they are looking at, they won't get any help being in the ecol.
