Another positive post by Freethrow, Friend of the Lancers. I guess you have answered your own question that you posted on the previous (deleted) thread. Maybe you can get someone fired up...

It's not all about basketball for these young men. Federal Hocking has had the most cooperation of any school in the area between the coaches of their respective sports. Both of these young men are outstanding in other sports and have to split their time as have most of the good athletes at FH over the last few years. This cooperation has fostered very successful teams in multiple sports which is necessary in the small schools of Southeastern Ohio. Sadly, some casual fans do not agree or understand how important this is. Any basketball coach worth his salt will tell you that they want their players playing something in the summer. If it's baseball or football or working on their high jump for next year, then good. If they spend their summer time in the gym that's even better but the main thing is that they are active in something. Remember these are still just kids, they need to do kid stuff and very few if any will play sports in college. Trust me, the average fan has no idea of the demands put on these kids' time.

Well said. Plus I don't see being behind when you have 4 potential starters in the gym together all year. Seems like a plus. I'm pretty sure Thompson and Clark played the same sports last year and were able to put in quality/meaningful minutes at the varsity level as sophomores. Also, we watched Fed scrimmage Morgan a few times this summer, so they've been doing more than just keeping the floor swept in Stewart.

I agree with G.W, Atleast the kids are staying active during the summer and are still n shape, now all they gotta do it retool their shot, minor conditioning, and just get back into the swing of basketball. I'd rather have that then a kid that just plays basketball but sits on couch all summer.

Also agree with GW. These kids play other sports that keep them active, and we don't always know what they are doing outside of the sport they are playing at the time. Talked to Clarks dad a while back and he said that Dewayne had been lifting with his uncle 2 to 3 nights a week, plus working on Football. Talked to Thompson's brother last night and he said he had been shooting some at home plus Golfing for the school and working at the batting cages. I think they will be just fine. GO LANCERS

I don't believe Smith has been to very many open gyms due to his surgery. But I've heard he's back now and playing as usual. Thompson has finished baseball and is coming now as well. He will be a dominating force at the point. Williams and Torrence have been to most open gyms during the summer, even during football. Torrence has a lot of ability and will be dangerous from behind the arc. Williams and Stanley will be a solid pair underneath, especially if Williams can get Stanley in the weight room with him. Campbell has been dedicated all summer as well, he just needs to get past the pressure and play to his potential. I see alot of potential in these six players. No word yet on if McCune or Clark will be playing. Hopefully they will. No doubt about it, the Junior class is heavy with talent. The lancers will have a solid team for the upcoming year and should be solid for the next season as well. Good luck to Coach "E". It will be interesting to see what he does with this talented group of young men in the TVC Hocking. GO LANCERS!

No team or individual instruction at this time, I believe not until September, but the gym is up and running for whoever wants to improve their skill and get back into shape for the season.

I think we'll be fine against Nelsonville as we have been the last 10 years. We put two pretty good spankings, as you'd call them, on the Buckeyes last year. I'd say we'll be okay, but thanks for the concern.

Fedhocker - if you got barely any one coming back to play then how do you expect to be a heavily experianced team in Nelsonville?Jw

Federal has several returning varsity players, and they are much more talented then Nelsonville. That's just my opinion, they'll settle it on the hardwood, but as the last 10 years have shown, Federal is a powerhouse compared to the NY Bucks.

I agree with fedhocker, Lancers have several solid players comming back and 3 potential leading scorers in the TVC, I'd say Torrence will "make it rain" when the lancers play nelsonville-york.

I'm not sure how you get we were loaded with depth and talent. From what I seen last year, Coach Vales played 6 at most unless they were blowouts. True we've had a history of not getting out of the first round, but we're looking to break out of that slump with the depth we have this year. You keep crying about the new coach's credentials. Credentials don't matter at this point. Let's see what he is able to do this year, until then give it a rest.
