as for a reply to what ward is in it for---not figured that one out yet!! but definatley not to win !!! Don't get me wrong--he knows basketball-just not how to coach it!!!!! you can't sit one of your best players just let a kid that doesnt start get the start agianst his old school!!!! that's not coaching!!!!
I would love to see them let sparks go--but for some reason ward dont!!!! he's a scrapper!!! and a nice shooter!!
from what we've been told--ward has coached this way everwhere he has been!!!!! I can understand why the other schools let him go!!! at this level you have to go for the win and let the boys find their rythm!!!!

Cg has a lot of talent to just waste it!!!!! there's no doubt that the coaches have bb knowledge it's their ability to coach it!!! They need to get a coach in there that's willing to go for the wins and work with the CG boys and not recruit from everywhere else!!!!

I agree, I do not know the exact stats, but I think they won a lot more games last year than the year before.

I have talked to some parents where he coached before, and they said he works really hard to try and get scholorships for the kids. I know one of the senior boys got a recruitment letter over the summer.

Anybody have a schedule of the 2008 OVC preview? Are they going to have one this year. If so, when and where? Thanks.

The only kid at Coal Grove that played against the school he came from was Brandon Chin, and he did not even start those games.

How can you say he is not going for the wins when only two coaches in lawrence co have more career wins than he does. He is supposed to play the style he wants, thats his job, (He's the Coach). He cant play the style that every parent wants him to play. He has to do what is best for the team, not what's best for your kid.

Yea I have seen him pull the kids out when they make mistakes, but what I have observed is him teaching the kids, telling them what they did wrong and what to do the next time it's called coaching, most of the time they are back in the game within 3 to 5 miniutes. Its a reasonable sacrifice to help the kids get better, and stop stupid mistakes from continuing throughout the whole game.

I guess your right there is favoritism in the Grove, Coach Ward favors the kids with good attitudes, that plays hard for the team and wants to win games.

If you were at any other school, the coach would not talk to you after the game, your input is not important. If a coach puts players in because the parents follow him around the gym and complain after the game then that is favortisms. You do not try and get your son playing time he earns it.

If he listened to what the fans and parents had to say; like the coach before him. The team would be 0 and 21 AGAIN.
