New episode of SVC Sports Talk is ready for listen. This week we hear from Huntington's Brice Vickers, Dylan Gragg, and Coach Rinehart following their big win over Unioto. We also preview the Adena/Unioto girls game.
We also start to put together the Dream Team for SVC boys' basketball in the history of the game. I would love for SVC fans to listen and let us know who you think needs to come off the list and who should go on the team.

I appreciate all the people who have added to the all-time SVC team. The inbox has been full today of opinions. We really need fans of all ages - especially some that remember the 70s and 80s to listen to the podcast (just see link in above post) and add their opinions.

Still getting some great feedback today, but most continues to be more for players in the 90s. To make the list complete, I would love to hear from some fans from the 70s. For example, how does a Dave Hammond or Mick Shoemaker rank with the more current players.
Again, you can hear my list (covering the past 20 years) on the podcast link in my first post. It is all FREE for fans to listen and subscribe.

WTP, interesting topic, and good to hear considering it is the SVC's 50th anniversary. However, given the fact that most people who watched the great players of the 70's and 80's are in a sense less computer/message board "savvy" than those who watched players from the 90's until now, it wont be at all surprising to see ALOT more votes coming in to reflect that audience. That being said, IMO, here is a list(in NO particular order) of "old-timers" that should be considered...also, it should be noted that NONE of these guys played when there was a 3-point shot
-Larry Jordan '67 (?) SE grad, his point/rebounding averages were VERY impressive, played at Morehead St in college, and is the obvious choice for the most successful SVC boys coach ever...but, ALOT of people forget how great of a prep player he was
-Jeff Reisinger '70 ZT grad, Class "A" Ohio Player of the Year as a Sr, led ZT to back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons...lost something like 6 (SIX!) total BKB games in his HS career, went to Clemson on BKB scholly following his graduation from ZT, IMO, no other SVC boys BKB player has his HS resume'
-Chip Maxwell '70 ZT grad, just so happened to be Reisinger's teammate, incredible athlete by all accounts, All-Ohio in 2 sports, and was Ohio Class "A" Player of the Year in baseball as a Sr, was drafted out of HS by the Washington Senators
-Mick Shoemaker '73 or '74 PV grad? Impressive scorer, All-Ohio, played 4 years at University of Cincinnati following HS
-Pat Austin '83 Bishop Flaget grad...another great all-around athlete, played on a very balanced and undefeated Flaget squad as a senior, thus his points for his career and per game average didnt jump out at ya'...but a great one none-the-less. Made it as high as "AAA" level for the Detroit Tigers in the Major Leagues before calling it a career
-Brian Alley '85 SE grad...am fairly certain he was the SVC's 1st 2-time boys Player of the Year in Basketball? Another incredible athlete, qualified for the state meet in track ALL FOUR years of HS...also, as good of a baseball and football athlete as there was in the league at the time. Played for some very powerful squads coached by Jordan
-Dave Bettendorf '83 Unioto grad...probably much better known as a Football and Baseball player, but an impressive competitor on the hardwood as well...a winner. Went on to earn All-MAC honors at Kent St in Baseball, then played several years in the Baltimore Orioles farm system
Those are just a few off the top of my head, some I competed against, some that I've read about from my father's old "scrap books"...here's hoping a few more of us "Old-Timers" chime in as there were ALOT of great athletes in the league pre-dating 1990

Maxwell, Reisinger and Jordan never played in the SVC. Their schools joined the SVC after they graduated. They played in the Ross County LeagueLamont Cranston wrote:WTP, interesting topic, and good to hear considering it is the SVC's 50th anniversary. I have suggested that he make a list of 7 from each decade and then create a first, second, third team
