Re: Pike County Holiday Classic
I see Eastern pushing Piketon, but the Streaks getting the W. Then, Piketon's ability to have 3 guys score will put them over top of Waverly in the Finals. Eastern over Western in a tight one for 3rd.

Only one page of banter, predictions, and the like. Where is everyone as The Chef gets lonely here in The Oven with the kids out on break. The Chef thinks this version of The Classic shapes up nicely.

I think there's potential for games to be competative this year I know the boy from Western are excited to go to the arena and play. Good luck to all the teams this year.

Re: Pike County Holiday Classic
The Streaks lost a lot, but it seems they have kids stepping up and filling the holes left by graduation. You aren't going to replace Evan Legg, but they seem to have several kids who can score in bunches on any given night (Moore, Farmer, Brabson, and I think another player has been in double figures a couple times). Waverly has that ability as well, but haven't shown it against a quality team. We can depend on Kretzer scoring 20+ every game, but we have seen that isn't the cure-all against quality teams. Jean Paul White, Devin Kelly and Philip Hart have to shoot the ball with confidence, and not be afraid to fire that tomato when they have an open look. I thought against Ironton they were hesitant to pull the trigger (Kelly wasn't, just had a tough shooting night), waiting for Jake to do something with the ball. If we can get some confidence from our outside shooters, this team can be very dangerous with the way they get after it on the defensive end (and with the dramatic improvement from last year in the turnover column).
I'm excited to see the 2011-12 version of the Eagles and Indians as well. It sounds as if Coach Jordan really has the troops fired up on the West side...that's awesome and great to see for a group of kids who have been through some tough times. Coach Fitch has the Eagles scrapping as well, and it wouldn't surprise me if they gave Piketon fits in the opening round. I think we're all in for some good basketball!

JV tournament today at piketon. Western vs Waverly at 1:30 then Piketon vs Eastern following that. Think this will be a good day to take off early and catch ball all day.
Anyone have information on JV records of these teams curious as to what each school has coming up?

Should be a fun day of basketball, Piketons JV's have lost 1 game to Southeastern. They are pretty well rounded with shooting, size and athleticism.

I Agree with Jackyl and the fact that the players whom play JV and Varsity for Piketon and Eastern are going to have all of an hour or so between games at different locations. This wasn't very well planned out.

Its a five minute bus ride. Not a big deal. However, I would have liked to see them earlier in the week.lebasketball wrote:I Agree with Jackyl and the fact that the players whom play JV and Varsity for Piketon and Eastern are going to have all of an hour or so between games at different locations. I stand by my last statement that the JV Classic was not very well planned out. Take off work early to see a forfeit. Western claimed to know nothing about having a game at piketon today. Waverly takes the first classic W without stepping foot on the court.

Re: Pike County Holiday Classic
Well from now on at least all the schools will be ready. The first year for these find of events can be shaky. Props to piketon for trying to get the ball rolling though.
