12/20 Southern @ Eastern

Roseberry, Taylor, Roberts and Hill all picked up their 4th foul in the third quarter. Southern got out played and coached in this one. Blowing a 14 point lead in the third quarter. Southern is a team that can't afford to get in foul trouble. When you only have 8 players on your varsity, you can't have 4 foul out.

So you are saying they had to finish the game with 4 players? Either way this is a tough loss for Southern and a great win for Eastern. I'm not sure when Southern plays again, but i hope for those boys it is soon. Those long and early morning practices over Christmas break will be brutal enough.

No they finished with five. Coach Caldwell dressed three players off of the jv team last night that had never played on the varsity. I know the game was brutal for me as a fan, I feel like we gave one away. I'm sure the players and coaches feel 100 times worst than me. I give Eastern credit for not giving up. They made a run to start the third qt and we countered it and went back up 14. I thought they may lay down but they kept battling

Dunk 1 how was howie protecting his legacy? He coached 1 kid from last year. Only 3 Eastern Players even played last year under Caldwell. If anything Coach Britton has developed his kids to where they are now. I do not believe Howie deserves much credit if any for what is going on at Eastern. All the credit belongs to the kids for trusting a brand new coach and a brand new system. Coach Britton and the Eagles are doing it their own way, there is nothing from the Howie Era going on at Eastern

Well when Howie left Eastern was suppose to be terrible, bring in a no name coach and he turns nothing into something and some how Howie still gets all the credit? Wierd? I am not sure if Britton deserves much credit either, the boys from Eastern are playing well there is no doubt about that.

Congratulations to the Eagles on one of the biggest wins our school has seen in quite some time. Carnahan had to sit most of the first half, and the Eagles kept it within striking distance. Carnahan's step back 3 from the corner was huge late in the 3rd quarter, just when you thought the young Eagles would lay down. Kirk Pullins stepped up when they needed him. I believe with his length, if he keeps up that aggressiveness, it could be the x factor down the stretch.

I happened to build a bond with Howie's wife during the years when the boys coached against each other. Howie is a great man even more than he is a great coach. From what I saw watching the Eastern/Trimble game they are still playing Howie ball. At least that's what hubby bear told me.

And it will continue to be unless they get some of the old gang of great coaches back at the helm of some of these places. I was told the league was really good back when you made all state in football at Trimble.

Great win by the Eastern Eagles! All the boys played as a team and you could tell that they wanted the win more. Nice inside game by the Pullins boy who had 19 points and 12 rebounds and the Bissell boy making two very important 3's in the game along with the Parker boy stepping up to the plate and playing very well. Very young but talented team. Can't wait to watch them the rest of the season.

Coaching will only take you so far. You need kids who can play. The TVC has been a joke the past 3 years and I suspect it will only continue to decline. Kids now have social media, cell phones and elaborate video games..who needs to spend time in the gym? It shows on the court. A friend compared the Eastern/Fed Hock game last week to a Freshman game.

Side note: I saw Trimble on Nelsonville tv cable last year and the whole team was wearing head bands??? More concerned with how they look than how their game looks.

There will be no sign of head bands and such if those in charge eat a whole bunch of crow, as well as their pride, and make the right move. Time to go back in time and bring back the storied tradition of great basketball and cheerleading.

I am ok giving the coach from britain credit but howie deserves his due for bringimg them kids up right in the game.

I am no Howdee fan but I have to agree somewhat that he deserves some credit.
