Re: Clay VS East
Like I had said in earlier threads about Trainer, he is not cut out to coach HS kids. If it is in fact true that he made the statement last year how he didn't know how he would do at the HS level since he wasn't able to go out and recruit and pick his own team, that to me should have been a red flag. With the HS game you have to play with the hand they dealt you. You actually have to caoch with the talent you have. I haven't seen that out of him yet. He doesn't seem to know how to make adjustments to certain situations. You don't let a team go on a 10-12-0 run without calling a TO to calm your players down. I've watched enough basketball over the years and I've watched alot of great coaches over the years and they know when a game is slipping away, so they call TO, they make some adjustments and they go a different direction. If it doesn't work, than they try something else. Leaving your two best players on the bench while the other team is making a big run or sitting all 5 starters and letting the game get out of hand is just plain, bad coaching.
You can bet that the player who shot into the wrong basket feels bad enough and then he hears his coach on the radio belittling him even more. Uncalled for. If they had a bad week of practice than to me that reflects back onto the coach. Maybe he needs to change some things up. He has to realize that he is not coaching college kids anymore, who with some of the players on the floor are just like another coach out there. This years Clay team is young and I think he is struggling with that. Hell, he had a Senior laden team last year and look what he did. They had some talent, he just didn't utilize it right. The Keaton boy could have been a beast in the middle if they had someone that would throw him the ball. Trainer should have seen to it that he was the money man on the team and he didn't and it showed in there record.
Nobodyspecial, I would hope that you are kid that doesn't know better. If the game is out of reach and you have a big lead and the ball with just a few seconds left in the game, you do not throw up a shot. Doesn't matter if it was luck that it went in, it is the mere fact that it did go in. You hold the ball till the buzzer sounds, you hand the ball to the ref and you get in line to shake the other teams hand. End of story.
Clay just needs to keep their heads held high and just the games that have already been played behind you and look to the games upcoming. With there being so many league games for the SOC I schools, one loss is not going to hurt you. They can rebound from this and still have a shot at the SOC championship.

If the clock is running down to zero and the other team is walking off the floor, you hold the ball, throw it up in the air or roll it down the floor, but if you are coached well you don't throw up a shot. All players do not do this as you said. I see it in biddy ball and maybe in Jr High, but by HS you should have outgrown it.
I agree........classless move for varsity bball.
Coach Bradford is one of the most respected coaches in the conference --IF a player did something to show up the other team I guess it will be addressed . Bradford puts up with zero bull.

Re: Clay VS East
That was not the first time that I have seen it done with seconds left on the clock for a player to put up a three....especially a big man. Heck I even seen a Clay player do it once in the past. There is no need to cry about it....I think they have alot more to worry about then a kid making a three at the end of a game right now.
Also if you want to talk about a kid being classless what about the kid who came off the floor after having the ball stolen 3 times in a row and getting burnt for easy baskets coming off and kicking a chair.

That shot was pay back for the Clay boys tearing our girls posters off their lockers. Oh yes the Clay boys tore off the posters, turned them into paper wads, and threw them on the floor.

It wasn't even the majority of the team it was a small amount some of them didn't know untill the coach called them back to the locker room

Please don't classify this one as the boys, plural form. I can guarantee you that it wasn't the whole team that did that or even had a hand in it and I am sure that the innocent are just as upset about everything happening because it is a bad reflection upon the whole team and again as ignert1 stated if this is a player that is having issues with other things going on then they need to address it with the coach but don't do things that down the road affect the whole team.
These boys have proven that they have what it takes to be winners this year and I only hope that they can get past all of the crazy things happening and being said and making a run at the title. As said earlier one SOC loss will not totally cancel out anything at this stage. Keep your heads up Panthers and have a good remaining year.

Coach Trainer belittling his players. What level does a coach embarress his players on the radio. That was uncalled for and for the part of not being ready thats the coach's part. Saying that I'm going to enjoy playing for Clay's new coach next year.........

I think you should have sucked it up and played this year and helped out your friends, your school, and your team instead of getting on here running down the coach and the team.

Agree Burg Grad. I've never figured out how that type of stuff would help anything? As an Eaglefan, I hope the Clay team stays divided........
