GALLIA ACADEMY 49, ROCK HILL 37
Re: GALLIA ACADEMY 49, ROCK HILL 37
Congrats on your win. It would be hard to imagine worse roads than those to have to cover on this suddenly icy night. Glad it turned out to be a relatively safe trip for all of you.
Re: GALLIA ACADEMY 49, ROCK HILL 37
Shocked they played this game. Didn't they know about this weather coming in?
I heard about it coming home from Indiana yesterday morning.

gahs4ever wrote:The GAHS Blue Devils slip-slided their way down Rt7/52/93 in a trip that normally takes a little over an hour, but this night it took more than 3! Stuck behind an accident on 52 at the Ashland Bridge and then with roads freezing with every passing moment, they finally arrived.
The JV game started an hour and a half late; beginning around 7:30. I dont know who I felt sorrier for. When I got to the school at 5 the JVs were already on the floor in uniform shooting. They continued to shot for well over an hour before the coaches took them to the locker room. Meanwhile the Blue Devils were stuck on a cramped school bus for three hours, and I wondered how tight and stiff their legs would be.
It was needless worry as GAHS raced to a 48-25 JV win to improve to 4-0 on the young season.
The nightcap was the quickest game Ive ever seen in my life. Started at 9:03 and over at 10:06. 32 minutes of clock time and a 15 minute halftime adds up to 47 minutes. That means only 16 minutes of dead ball time via turnovers, fouls, free throw shooting, timeouts etc.
When the smoke cleared, the Blue Devils erased a slight 20-19 halftime deficit enroute to a 49-37 conquest of the Redmen. GAHS improves to 2-2 on the year.
Chris Armstrong poured in a game high 16 for the Gallians, and was supported by Kyle Mitchell's 14. The Redmen offense revolved around Big Sam Cooke whose big body and deft moves combined with a soft touch accounted for 13 markers. In the times the Devils had him covered, he proved to be a slick passer to cutters along the baseline, of which Brandon Klaiber was the prime benficiary with 15 to pace Rock Hill.
The Redmen have an absolutely beautiful facility surpassed only by their hospitality and being the gracious hosts that they were.
GAHS will celebrate Christmas with their families before returning to action this Friday evening when Portsmouth comes to town for a tripleheader. The freshman game begins at 5 followed by the JV and varsity.
Merry Christmas all!
going to try and make it for all 3 games....save me a hot dog
MERRY CHRISTMAS

No Cody Smith listed in Rock Hill's program. Wasn't listed in the scorebook, either.
