The Highlanders came out hot and got a ton of easy transition baskets to take a 45-37 halftime lead on the Peake.

The Panthers settled down and played solid half-court defense in the second half. Peake players got in good position to take charges from the Huntington big men, eventually forcing Humphrey from Huntington to foul out. Nathan Copley from the Peake got red hot and scored 15 in the third period and 25 in the second half as the Panthers won going away 82-64.

Huntington has a big, athletic team that had at least 4 dunks in the contest. This was their first game of the year.

... Copley is the real deal for the 'peake must have been on fire to hit for 25 in the 2nd half alone ... alongside Webb and Saunders Coach Davis has an outstanding ball club in the making ... 3-1 to start the Week that IS Week #3 in the 08-09 season ... looking forward to seeing the rest of the "napkin stats" on this one ... good win for Ohio vs one of those "foreign" teams ...

Peak gets after the ball !!!I'm a hard one to Impress ,But they have a fine ball club some good shooters!!!Huntington was to busy trying to dunk the ball and Peake just took care of business.

... Coach Davis is an outstanding basketball coach for the 'peake - more than one person (from other OVC schools) have made this statement to me in discussing Chesapeake ... some have told me he is the BEST in the OVC - they are right on the money I'd say ...

Chesapeake played a phenomenal second half vs. the Highlanders. The first half was controlled by Huntington as they outran the Panthers. But after intermission CHS didn't allow HHS to run as much, and by the fourth quarter Chesapeake had taken control of the game.

I was impressed with the Peake when they played North Adams at the Convo, and I came away yesterday feeling the same about the Panthers. They will be in the district at the Convo come March.

I was very suruprised that Chesapeake played with North Adams at the Convo. And I was very surprised yesterday when I was setting there watching them control the game in the 2nd half vs. Hunington High. Looking at Chesapeake when they come out you wouldn't think they would be a very good basketball team, nothin bad by that. They are a very under-sized team but let me tell you that doesn't stop the Peake. They totally dominated Hunington in the 2nd half. I'm a pretty big fan of the coach there, he is a solid one. Watch OVC cause the Peake is ready to win it with there good ball movement on offense and their solid defense they play!

Got to watch this game on WSAZ ZTV and Chesapeake was impressive,I was skeptical after them only beating Rock Hill by 1,but after watching that 2nd half performance this is a team to contend with in D3 this year,we will see them at the Convo.

the Panthers beat Rock Hill 41-35 and the reason it was so close was b/c of early foul trouble Hintz 3 and Copley 2 and when those two are out well u saw how those to played against Huntington but when they get in foul trouble at the same time the Panther lose a little bit of everything and though the Huntington game was a big game it was good to see the Rock Hill game now knowing the Panthers can overcome things b/c when you go To Rock Hill you get a little messed over b/c the reffs are all ways good friends with Rock Hills Coach. Im very impressed by the panthers myself and the Coaching Staff Head Coach Ryan Davis has done a great job with the Panthers and i look for more to come!!

GO PEAKE!!!

This game was pretty much a fluke. I give Ches credit they are well coached and have a couple of good shooters. HHS has ten times more athleticism and much better players, but obviously they have some poor coaching. Congrats Panthers you deserved to win.

if you seriously think that was a fluke then you didnt actually watch that basketball game i dont think even though how good huntingtons athletes were that an almost 20 point loss can be blamed on entirely coaching. huntington was sloppy on offense and thought that the dunk would win the game but as humphry found out it can get you 3 fouls all of which were charges taken by a great senior role player Matt Angle. Chespeake looked tired in the first half but in the second half showed alot of mental toughness in putting the highlanders away i beleive if chesapeake played that way the whole game then it would have been over early.

You can have all fo the athletes in the world but if they dont play together and have no team chemistry then it is just that!Alot of good athletes running up and down the floor! ;-)

Yes, HHS was Totaly out coached but you guys hit the nail on the head you can have all the Athletes you want but that doesnt mean you win basketball games just like a few years ago at HHS when Ironton downed them its gonna happen. But when you put athletes on the floor that back talk the coach and have bad attitudes and dont play together your askng for a loss!!!! I give all the creadit to the PANTHERS and their Coaching Staff!!!

GO PEAKE!!

Yes, I did watch the game. I would not make a comment about a game without seeing it. It was most certainly a fluke. If you take the guy away that scored 25 points in the second half then Ches gets blown out. Huntington high sometimes plays down to their competition, and in this case, this is what happened. This win would happen only once out of ten or twenty games. This game was probably the upset of the year in Lawrence County. This was a pretty unathletic and slow team that beat HHS and I do not see them making it to the Convo., but a win is a win and I give the Panthers all the credit in the world. Hey does anyone remember Steve Holbrook or Monte Edwards playing football or basketball in the 1970s? I want to say that I do not want to offend anyone I am just stating my opinion. Good luck the rest of the year Panthers!!

then you watched the game with blinders on..... 18 pts is not a fluke.... and i'd have to day that HHS didn't play down to their competition, they played below it by 18 pts...... you can't say take away the guy with 25 pts in the second half and that means HHS wins..... are you also willing to take away the HHS player that was in double figures...... the
Chesapeake kid with 25 in the 2nd half had 8 in the 1st half..... so just give him 10 in the second half and CHS stills wins...... you can't take one big scorer from one team and not take one from the other and still make a comparison.... the peake had 4 players in double figures and any of them are capable of having a 20 pt plus game on any night..... if the 25 pt kid hadn't been doing the scoring in the second half it would have been one of the others.... and Angle and Hintz played solid defense.... Angle took several hard charges that most big guys wouldn't stand there and take..... caring about your team and your teammates more that you care about yourself makes a big difference and that's what you saw from the peake during that game..... HHS has some really good athletes but it takes more than that to win a game..... HHS was out coached and out hussled in the 2nd half.... Coach Davis does an excellent job.... give me Davis and the dedication, work ethic, and team play of the peake any day..... if you don't think team play makes a difference then you need to watch a tape of that game again.....

I agree pantherfan. And unathletic and slow? I really don't know who you're talking about there. It's definately not the peake team that I saw. They're all pretty daggone quick and they're all athletes. If they weren't, there's no way they would have won that game. HHS has got loads of speed, but the peake kept up.

hey STONEWALL hmm sounds like a gay bar!!!! obviously u know nothing about the game of basketball you called chesapeake slow WOW! lets see who was getting up and down the floor in the last quarter the Peake ran circles around HHS and they ran the circles so fast HHS players were tugging at their shirts wanting breaks after breaks. And Tug Valley almost beat HHS impressive i guess your Highlanders are not as good as you think they are sorry to tell you and the planthers will be at the convo much improved from last year !!!!

GO PEAKE!!
