Looks like the story of this game was the 17-2 run Ironton went on to go from being down 41-27 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. to being up 44-43 with 3 minutes left in the game.
What happened there? Ptown scored only 2 points in a 13 minute span.

Re: IRONTON 62 VS Portsmouth 55 OT - 1/9 - FINAL
Close games tonight but in the jv game late when the JV coach for Portsmouth tells the refs he is wanting a TIMEOUT if they get the rebound after a missed free throw then it happens and he is still yelling for a timeout and doesn't get one. Meanwhile the trojan player gets FOULED while going up the court and the ball is in the air a whistle blows and somehow it's Ironton's ball? Unfortunate there. Then I found it odd that Lamb Ironton's TALLEST player fouls out with 2:00 left in the game and yet Ironton still gets rebounds over 6'7 guys and only 1 foul getting called. Good job Tigers and yes Portsmouth had a lot of turnovers tonight but there was a LOT of fishy calls especially in the first half when the fouls were 9 to 2 Portsmouth with each of Portsmouth's 3 bigs with atleast 2 each? Oh well good luck and we'll see ya in Portsmouth
Congrats to TrojanDave on winning a pizza tonight.

I reckon the SEAOL hates Ptown. They schedule the officials for all conference games. Maybe you should have a beef with them. I actually thought there were bad calls both ways but also let them play. You also got to look, as was posted earlier, Ptown went somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 minutes getting only 2 points.

Re: IRONTON 62 VS Portsmouth 55 OT - 1/9 - FINAL
First, this my first time of seeing Portsmouth this year and i'm impressed with the guard play and the Williams kid is money on the block. He got the ball in OT on the first possesion and i was suprised they never tried that more often.
Ironton got off to a very slow start but worked their way back in the game.
Mike Lamb was very big in the first half . The second half was a combination of alot of players doing their part. Travis came off the bench and hit the boards, Tommy hit the clutch free throws when the Tigers needed them. Johnathon was big on both ends of the floor. Lukas and Edens were absoulutly OUTSTANDING
Good to see a few fellars from Trojan land Trojandave,Ozzie and Dawg.
Dave nice shooting, if you don't want that shirt i know someone who might want it
Also that young man who shot before Dave was so close. He can shoot better than his Dad

Sounds like it was a great game. Congrats to The Tigers.
Re: IRONTON 62 VS Portsmouth 55 OT - 1/9 - FINAL
amen corner had it exactly right. Williams is unstoppable on the block. However, the "game plan" must not have been to get the ball down low. Portsmouth is huge down there and the few times Williams and Cadogen? got the ball, Ironton had no answer.
"Portsmouth got hosed?" Not hardly. When a guy is 6'7" and 300+ and he still has to shove off to get boards, that's bad.
Portsmouth gets to playing as a team, start respecting their coaches and quit worrying about smack talking during the game, they will be very very tough to beat. Until then, they will just give up big leads and drop the game plan, half way through second halves.

Only my second Tiger game this year, but I think Edens is terribly under-rated. He is very solid for the Tigers.

Re: IRONTON 62 VS Portsmouth 55 OT - 1/9 - FINAL
Congratulations to the Fighting Tigers on the win........they made a great comeback after being down 41-27 in the third quarter........
And I want to say that I was proud of the Trojans........they played much better than they did against Chillicothe and competed hard........unfortunately the 22 turnovers really hurt us........we also could have done a better job at boxing out. Portsmouth has to find a way to stay focused in the second half........two games in a row now the Trojans have struggled after halftime of games that were very winnable.
Portsmouth had 4 players in double figures........and now Tory Horne is the only Trojan who has scored in double figures in every game...........the drought from the middle of the third quarter to early in the 4th quarter really hurt Portsmouth........we went from a 41-27 lead to 43-43 with about 4 minutes to play.........defensively we held Ironton to 30% shooting.......no one can ask for a better effort than that......our kids contested shots all night.......and we did an excellent job on Dustin Green, who can be an explosive scorer..........
Still, we're 5-2 which is much better than the 42-88 record over the last 6 years.....I went back and checked my figures on that...........and I think we have an excellent chance to win the next 3 games before going to Marietta.......we play Minford at home tonight, Logan at home next Friday, and then at Jackson the following Tuesday. Those are all winnable games, but we have to come out and play good basketball.
Last night was a classic Ironton vs. Portsmouth battle.........one that I'll remember for quite a while.......I sure wish it could have gone our way, but we get another shot at the Fighting Tigers later on..........GO TROJANS!!!
Good to talk to a good number of Ironton SEOPS last night.........and I will enjoy the pizza and T-shirt......it will a Trojan T-shirt of course.......and I want to thank the fans for supporting me..........

Ok so now that I got to sleep on it and think about it more I am not as frustrated with it except for the jv game. The Trojans shot themselves in the foot with so many turnovers and by not GRABBING the ball on rebounds and ironton capitalized. Either way it was a great night of exciting games and I hope for some more in the future. Good luck tigers
Still impressed by Tory Horne and proud of how far this team has come since freshmen. Good luck tonight Trojans!!

will the games on February 10th at Portsmouth, be a triple header again? If so, it will have to be an early ribber starting time!

Thanks Tobias. Hope all went well yesterday in the testing. Since you are a member of the Ironton Tiger Clan, you are exempted from the "hate"
