12/2 Southern @ River Valley

wooden,you must have watched a different game,because most of the game southern was so smothered by the rv defense they looked lost,it always amazes me how people from southern play a team that beats them or almost beats them,southern played their worst game. HAHA Southern missed 4 ft's out of 20 in OT that is not 20%, from what i see this southern team has some real attitude problems. how no4 from southern kept from getting a technical on every foul is beyond me? he mouthed on every call. the only team out of control was southern they had no clue how to beat the rv half court defense,only timely rv turnovers in the 4th qtr and 2 technical fouls 1 prob should have been called,the 2nd is a mystery, is what beat them.
i am in no way a homer i call it as i see it,you are a southern HOMER! get over it you beat a team that is better than you. Move on!

This sounds like one of those classic we lost lets blame the officials. I also would like to see a box score on this one. Sounds like a first game of the year sloppy one.

Southern wins in overtime and River Valley got their eyes screwed out by the officiating crew form Athens, 4 players fouled out, River Valley was up 6 with about 2 mins left. They made a few mistakes but were clearly the more physical team! Austin Lewis had around 25 river Valley pounded them on the boards! Good job Raiders! This was 2 defensive teams leaving it all on the floor!
Too bad the officials were so heavily involved! Southern is a very good team should be favored to win the TVC.

Yea! Just like the 3rd qtr when RV out scored Southern 14-4?
I think about 1:14 left River Valley was down 5 in ot started fouling and southern stepped up and knocked most of them down.
That is the reason southern outscored them by 15 they prob shot 15 free throws in ot.

I am taking nothing away from Jeff's Tornadoes nice ball club! River Valley is every bit their equal!
The overtime score was not a reflection of the game!

Obviously there not if Southern came out on top, Southern proved to be the better defensive team and conditioned team.

Putting the games on line for the kids is a great thing that Gallia sports is doing. I watched some of this game, one thing I would suggest is for the two guys announcing the game to step back and listen to themselves. I have no ties to either school and thought the officiating was alright. The two doing the game thought River Valley got ripped on every play. I realize these two are involved with River Valley but when it comes time to do the games maybe try to be a little non bias.

Sorry bud the newspaper was spot on with the stats. May not have been what you thought in your delusional mind. After watching the game on line I am shocked River Valley didn't have more fouls. They are very out of control and make dumb fouls 40 feet away from the bucket. The bucket that sent the game into overtime could have been called a charge, I'm glad it wasn't I don't like seeing a game end that way.

This forum reflects the attitude at RV....They got screwed by the refs on their home floor....they outrebounded Southern....they played better D than Southern and in their opinions were a far better team than Southern!!! Moral Victories still show up in the "L" column!!!! One of my favorite Quotes....The place to tell the winners from the losers is the scoreboard!!! I know that Coach Hill and Coach Golden will get things going!!! But quit whining...realize what that YOU could have done to win the game and quit blaming everybody else!!!! Work hard and go get them next time!!!

This crew was a good one and did a nice job with two teams that aren't very good at all. this would be a tough game to call.

Last years tvc hocking was won by a team that played very hard but couldnt have came in third or better in the old svac on a bad year. The kids just arent out shooting hoops in the offseason anymore

Some of the kids are. I coach AAU ball and I had 2 kids from RV and 1 from Southern last year. Those 3 put in TONS of extra effort and it shows on the floor during the school season.

I think that Southern will still be one of the top D4 programs when all is said and done!!! RV isn't as good or as bad as some might think. But they have a great group of freshmen!!! So hopefully they will work hard and be ready to join the TVC!!!
