I'm the dummy that drove to Chillicothe today for the freshman game which was supposed to start at 5:00.......there were only snow flurries in Lucasville.......and that was all the entire trip up Rt.23.......when I got to Chillicothe, the sun was shining through the clouds........I was standing outside the CHS gym with several Chillicothe fans and they didn't even know the game was cancelled.......one of the athletic officials, Napoleon Cross, came out and told us the game was cancelled.

I drove back.......very upset at how this game could possibly be cancelled......and there was only snow flurries in Lucasville again........absolutely no snow on the highways........I thought I had no reason whatsoever to listen to the radio for the status of this game..........

There was absolutely no reason this game should have been cancelled.......I drove up and back, and the roads were clear.......the forecast earlier in the day called for and "inch or less" according to WNXT.........I understand the games being cancelled for the ice and snow storm earlier.......but this......COME ON!!!

Not only does Chillicothe have a lot of games to be made up, but Portsmouth does also........I don't know how we're going to get these games in just 2 weeks before the sectionals........we have played only 12 games........and now this is 3 games postponed.

total stupidity.....all these games to be played in such short time. these kids are gonna be wore out. and the risk of injury will increase. nothing has yet fallen from the skies in chilli. im ticked!

14U: Forecasts have been known to be wrong on occasion.....we all know that.........and Rt.23 is a 4 lane highway.......and I saw a number of ODOT trucks salting the roads ahead of time.........I just don't think this game should have been cancelled..........

Portsmouth and Chillicothe are going to have some tired kids in these next 18 days......and then sectionals start the following week........like bronc21 said, fatigue could increase the risk of injury..........

I know it is irrelevant to today, but when I was in school, it would take almost a nuclear bomb exploding on Roy Rogers Esplanade to cancel school......and I walked from Waller Hill.....Lincoln School.......to PHS in frigid weather with 6-8 inches of snow or more......and never had a problem.........

Even President Obama was wondering why school was cancelled in Washington the other day........his kids had to stay home because of some "bad weather"............

Guys I agree with all you. Many schools are already canceled. I remember when I was in school PHS played many games in Columbus when there was many inches of snow and the plows were on the roads also the Columbus schools came here. These days its all about lawsuits and the schools are scared. Also back in the days PHS was never canceled remember walking in snow up to your calves?lol.

I know we have an open date on Friday, Feb. 13, but I would assume Chillicothe has a game that day........if they want to make this one up, and it should be played, it may have to be on an odd day.......a Wednesday or Thursday...........

I got an e-mail today, via way of Rey Bradley from Chillicothe, that the Portsmouth at Chillicothe game will be made up on Wednesday, Feb. 11. It will be varsity only.

This is the schedule as follows for that day:

Jackson at Chillicothe varsity girls game at 6 p.m. (varsity only)
Portsmouth at Chillicothe varsity boys game at 7:30 p.m. (varsity only)

The JV and freshmen games are cancelled.
