not agreeing or disagreeing with the enrollment comment but for info only the cut off for div4 is 133 boys, the oaks have 133 boys.

Well the D4 oaks were firing on all cylinders lastnight. Congratulations to JD Hale on his 1000th career point. It is even better getting it on a night the Oaks go into Burg and lay a beat down on them. Keep it up Oaks. Get Minford on Friday then make a solid tournament run to Columbus.

That proves it! Coach Persin kidnapped the boy who put Oak Hill at 134 and he hasn't been seen since.

Both student sections were good. I think Oak Hill came up with some better stuff to say and yes they did say "This is ugly" not "you are ugly" Kind of obvious since they were pointing up at the scoreboard. Also a funny one was "Stegman who?" I also liked it when they said "We want Minford"

Yes i agree Crazee the pumpfake ondera gave when the student section was going to jump up was PRICELESS! Norm had a few words with him but oh well! GO OAKS!

Since she said the final four two years ago she means that one? No since in arguing this any longer the Oaks beat the burg twice this year. We beat them at their place, in their new house! Thats something to celebrate on its own! Way to go MIGHTY oaks!

Which time, there have been many trips to the final four for the Pirates.

Not this year, or anytime in the near future, for that matter. I beleive the Oaks are the team with the shot at the Final Four this year. Great to see the Oaks put it all over the Burg. Got to love that. Classless on the Burg student section, yes. All night.

I agree I think Oak Hill does have a chance to make it to the Final Four if not win the whole thing. How was the Burg's cheer block classless? It was harmless fun. If the Burg's cheer block was classless so was Oak Hill's.

I watched both teams for the first time this year and can say Oak Hill dominated all aspects of the game last night. Their experience and talent kept Wheelersburg off balance all night, the frustration which was visible on the Wheelersburg players faces. I noticed Barrick attempting to make changes several times leaving the players on the floor confused. It appeared at times Barrick had no control over the offense or defense his team was using (they weren't listening or he was way over their head). This team according to the program has no seniors and only one kid who played on last year's varsity team, so inexperience was certainly a factor. It had a little payback for the Oak Hill players and coaches who lost by 45 points to the Wheelersburg team in the 07 game at the Convo.

Oak Hill showed no weakness last night leading into tournament play. Their inside game was strong (good passes inside, rebounding, and good finishes), their perimter shooters made shots when it counted. Their defense kept Wheelersburg confused all night and kept the game out of reach from the start. Good luck and have a strong run into March.

Wheelesburg has the Defense they just have no shooters. they actually have two kids who had Varsity experence Stegman and Lang but Lang torn his ACL in football and don't know if he's is going to play this year or not. Oak Hill is peeking at the right time no doubt. I would think it would almost be a let down if Oak Hill didn't at least make it to the Final Four. They have a cake walk to the Regionals the next best team in their district is probably Manchester.

yeah, I agree, but the regionals are a bear in D4. Also, New Knoxville won the whole thing last year with many underclassmen. They smoked Worthington Christian by 22 in the Finals. D4 will not be a cakewalk from the Sweet 16 on!!

I know a kid personally who tried to transfer in last year to play football and was rejected to keep their number of boys 133!!!!!!! I can only assume from what I know about your program "top" to bottom is it's because you (OAKS) don't want to have to play any competition early on. Get over it.

Oh yea, I am not from the burg. Just an old coach. ;-)

Yeah, I guess I would celebrate too if I beat a team twice in one season once every what, 15 years. and I can't remember if they have ever beaten the Burg twice in one season. The Oaks joined the SOC in the early 90's and they might have done it then, but not really sure.

Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. Let me guess, you can see into the future. I compare this years Burg team to your Oaks team of a few years ago. Lot of talent, but very young with the potential to grow. Burg was like that in '04-'05. They were a young team with no Seniors. Cam Miller, Cowgill and Salyers were Sophomores, Carrington a Junior and they played like a young team. The next two years they matured and got better and made it to two straight final fours. Granted they didn't win, but they made it there. Oaks were in the same boat. Young two years ago, but in the next year, they fizzled and got beat in the tourney when expectations were very high for that team and now this years team has the same potential to get to the big dance, but what if they don't. They will just be labeled as another great local team who couldn't win the big game.

Another thing that makes me laugh is when your student section started chanting, "we got Norm" Why????? I just don't get it. Sure he won alot of games while at Chesapeake, but not one time, in all of those years, did he evermake it to a final four. He had teams that went 20-0 and was ranked No. 1 in the state that couldn't even get out of the sectional. Burg beat them in '92 in the sectional final at ol Rock Hill HS. After losing to the Burg in the regular season in 1988, he wouldn't schedule them in the regular season again and they only ever met in the tourney. Maybe that was the only way he thought he could go 20-0. They just recently renewed that game after he left and it looks to be a good series. I guess the Burg student section had the right comeback in "we got Barrick"

As for the student section being classless, how about the fans of the Oaks, mostly all adults, standing up and screaming, hollering and pointing fingers at the student section. These are kids having some fun. If you think they are immature then don't stoop down to there level. Act like an adult and cheer for your team and let the student sections have there fun. Someone mnetioned the Burg student throwing his hat onto the floor. Trust me, if you knew who that student was you would know that it was an accident. If the refs thought he did it on purpose then why didn't they "T" him up and toss him from the game. What it looked like to me was that he went to throw his hat on the ground and it slipped out of his hand as he was coming done with it. Luckily no one got hurt because of slipping on it, so to me it was not that big of a deal.

This looks like another case of Oak Hill getting help from the officials. They have been playing 8 on 5 lately, and the other teams just don't have a chance.

What times have caught up with the Burg? Burg comes into the season with one player (not counting Tyler because of the injury) with any varsity experince at all and with four games left in the season were playing for sole possesion of the SOC DIV II, yet everyone seems to be thinking they had a down year. Sure, a SOC championship is one of the first accomplishmnets they strive for in the season.

For them to win the amount of game they did is a huge confidence bulider to them for the upcoming season and trust me, Burg has a strong 8th grade class that will mix in well with the varsity now. Burg looks to be strong for the 4-6 years.

Who said anything about the officials? Yes, they were terrible, but they were terrible both ways. Lot of over the backs and standing in the lane on both ends of the floor that wasn't called.
