Who said anything about the officials? Yes, they were terrible, but they were terrible both ways. Lot of over the backs and standing in the lane on both ends of the floor that wasn't called.

There is no such thing as over the back, no contact = no foul. A bigger player can reach over a smaller player and get the ball. Also, 3 seconds, come on!! If a player is making a move to the basket then it will not be called. Also while the ball is in the air and getting rebounded their is no 3 second count. Officials will only call it if a team has the ball on the perimeter and a player is "camping" in the lane.

OakHillOaks wrote:Both student sections were good. I think Oak Hill came up with some better stuff to say and yes they did say "This is ugly" not "you are ugly" Kind of obvious since they were pointing up at the scoreboard. Also a funny one was "Stegman who?" I also liked it when they said "We want Minford"

Yes i agree Crazee the pumpfake ondera gave when the student section was going to jump up was PRICELESS! Norm had a few words with him but oh well! GO OAKS!

From what I've been told, that should of been a violation, because you are not allowed to simulate the motion to shoot because it could cause lane violations. Didn't matter in the outcome of course, just thought that was interesting

"""Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. Let me guess, you can see into the future. I compare this years Burg team to your Oaks team of a few years ago. Lot of talent, but very young with the potential to grow. Burg was like that in '04-'05.They were a young team with no Seniors. Cam Miller, Cowgill and Salyers were Sophomores, Carrington a Junior and they played like a young team. The next two years they matured and got better and made it to two straight final fours. Granted they didn't win, but they made it there. Oaks were in the same boat. Young two years ago, but in the next year, they fizzled and got beat in the tourney when expectations were very high for that team and now this years team has the same potential to get to the big dance, but what if they don't. They will just be labeled as another great local team who couldn't win the big game.""" Quote

That 04-05 team you are talking about actually had 2 seniors and they were co-conference champs

Impressive win by the Oaks at the Burg........

Wheelersburg is still having a good season, obviously not quite at the level that they have been the last several years, but it's impossible to keep it going at a very high level every year........even at the Burg, there will be a year or two every now and then that the Pirates will lose more games than they are accustomed to...........

This season's not over, though.........WHS will still be a tough out in the tournament........

And they have virtually everybody back for next year.........which means bad news for the rest of the SOC in 2009-10.

I can only assume from what I know about your program "top" to bottom is it's because you (OAKS) don't want to have to play any competition early on. Get over it.

Oh yea, I am not from the burg. Just an old coach. ;-)

A kid moving in wouldn't change the Oaks being in D4. It could when they do a recount, but don't they only do that ever few years.

Last night the Oaks were firing on all 8 cylinders. Congrats to Oak Hill on coming into the Pirate gym, playing hard and winning. A special salute to J.D. Hale on scoring his 1000th point last night in the first half.

Burg will be back in the gym this afternoon working, make no mistake about that from Barrick and Massie. Hang in there men and continue to do what you are being taught.

Live4sport---This is the last response I will make to your fictional tales. The "I had a friend" part to justify what I know to be untrue is comical. Nice try, though.

I'm glad you caught on...

And no yabba, there wasn't mention of the officials. That's why I thought there needed to be... it's normally such a fun topic to watch being discussed.

EAST showed a lot of Clas a few weeks back when Shanks scored his 1,000 at their place , by stopping play at the moment he scored it,and handed him the game ball, and let him be recognized for it.

I am sure Burg did the same for J D Hale?

congratulations on a great acomplishment!

MightyOaksFan,
You are correct, every two years instead of every year.

Not on here to question Barrick as I know he is one of the best coaches in this areas history, and I know he wanted to keep Stegman out of foul trouble but once he seen Hale was not going to be stopped by anyone else, ecspecially after it was 10-2,I think you have to take your chances and let Stegman guard him.JMO

Like I said before, Burg doesn't impress me with their offense. They have alot of athletes playing basketball but only one basketball player. The JV are not showing any promise either. No height and they are getting beat almost every game. Barrick had to reach into the freshman class to give any skill to the varsity they were lacking. There are 7 juniors on the team this year and will be seniors next year. All the JV's will have to stay JV's next year which is not good if your a sophomore this year. Who wants to be on the JV team as a Junior? I don't think your looking at a replay of the 2007 year. Oak Hill and Valley are loaded for next year. Oak Hill was winning by 25 points when the subs came in and gave up 10 unanswered points or they could have won by 35 points, easily!

When J.D. Hale scored his 1000'th point they didnt stop play because burg has no respect for Oak Hill

No, they didn't, but the question I have is if someone from Oak Hill didn't inform anyone from Burg then how would they know when it was going to happen?

This is true, but if you were at last nights game then you saw it happening on both ends of the floor all night long, with alot of contact, most of it in front of the tall official.

Dean, we can't mention names or I would rattle of some kids for you. You might be surprised what I know. Also, from my ties with the OHSAA I know how often they "count" the schools. I also know quite a bit about Oak Hill schools and their "transfer" processes. So, nice try to you to my friend. Like I said--I'm not from burg-- just very involved in the SOC.

Live4sport---I said I would not comment again, but these false and slanderous statements cannot go unchecked. I do not care what you think you know, but you are totally wrong. First of all, Oak Hill would never turn down a football player to help the basketball team. The community cares twice as much about success in football than in basketball. Secondly, because of claims like yours that are not based in fact, Oak Hill has been vetted more than any other school in southern Ohio by the OHSAA. If there were problems it would be well publicized. You are the one who said OH cuts off enrollment to benifit the basketball team with no proof. Either offer up proof or be quiet.

First off I don't ever remember the burgs jv being very good. I only count 6 jrs on the varsity. One of those who is a captain and returning starter I beleive has not played 1 minute this yr. The burg starts 3 soph's and one of their first players off the bench is a freshman. Throw in the fact that Stegman is a soph and is arguably if not the best, certainly one of the best players in the area will return for 2 more yrs. I am guesing he is going to get a little bigger, stronger and overall just a little better which is kind of scary. I am guessing most people that see how young this burg team is and how well they have played and with the experience their gaining and with barrick at the helm I am guessing most people will disagree with you and recognize that the burg shoul be a force the next few yrs.
