Re: Northwest @ Portsmouth 2/7
Portsmouth needs to contain Hank Leslie.....he had a monster game vs. the Trojans last year......if they can do that, and have no hangover from Zanesville, I think we can post our 8th win of the year and push our record to 4-0 vs. the SOC.

Leslie did have a great game out there last year, but I felt we gave that game away. On paper, it shouldn't be close.

Re: Northwest @ Portsmouth 2/7
The Mohawks have to play smart and they can beat portsmouth....stupid mistakes will cost them against big against this team...Last year Northwest won because they were were simply better all around, this year if they expect to win it will have to be off pure will and determination

Re: Northwest 72 @ Portsmouth 78 Final
Portsmouth should be a #5-#7 seed...but just mark down the 8-9 spot

like tobias said, no one from Portsmouth was predicting any 25 point blow out, ANYONE, THAT HAS BEEN TO THE PORTSMOUTH GAMES, KNOWS BETTER.
Leslie < spell..is a real player

rephrase "this is the type of team Portsmouth SHOULD kill. " congrats on the win.
Re: Northwest 72 @ Portsmouth 78 Final
you dont always KILL the teams you should.
for example.
Notre Dame went to New Boston last week, a onme win team,,,,,and should have killed them,,,,didnt happen.
the teams you should kill always get fired up to play aganst you, sometime they fell they have nothing to lose, and shoot thge lights out.
but tonight,Northwest, was a pretty good team.
and we will take the win, by 1 point or by 25.....
its a win, and thats all that matters

Re: Northwest 72 @ Portsmouth 78 Final
Was impressed with Leslie, but the 23 I believe was almost lights out from behind the arc, I believe most if not all of his points were from there and he had around 23 or so. Johnson for Portsmouth had a huge game and made a couple key plays late in the game for the Trojans.
Re: Northwest 72 @ Portsmouth 78 Final
I think, northwest had 2 players with 20 plus, and so did portsmouth,,,,,
Johnson had one of his best games of the year, and played some really tough defense as well, he has earned that starting position back and has proven he should be there.

Re: Northwest 72 @ Portsmouth 78 Final
Glad to see our Trojans get their 8th win of the year.......over a fiesty Northwest Mohawks team.......Forrest Johnson was OUTSTANDING for Portsmouth, playing a superb all around game. Anthony Williams and Tory Horne also had good offensive games, and Williams once again pulled down his share of rebounds.
The Crabtree kid for Northwest, #23, really hurt the Trojans from behind the arc in the first half.......Portsmouth did a better job in the second half guarding the perimeter, but the Mohawks hung tough........Leslie is a very nice ballplayer, and I told him so after the game.......he is going to play college ball for someone.....no doubt.......and he still has one year left at NHS.
If Portsmouth can win their final 3 home games, it will clinch a winning season for the first time since 2002........I would love to see this for the kids and the coaching staff.......all have worked hard in the off season and practices........and this season has shown that the Trojan basketball program is making progress.........
The win total for PHS now stands at 1,286.........Portsmouth is now 6-0 outside the SEOAL and finished with a perfect 4-0 record vs. the SOC...........
The Portsmouth freshmen ran their record to 10-2 with a convincing win over the Northwest freshmen.......they have an opportunity to win the SEOAL outright if they can beat Ironton, Chillicothe, and Gallia Academy this week........good luck freshmen team and Coach Ted Newsome.........
GO TROJANS!!!
