Division III Sectional at Waverly
Re: Division III Sectional at Waverly
I think Lucasville Valley is going to be a tough out in this sectional....The Indians put up 99 points against 13-7 Minford @ "The Nest" (made that up) and Utley went for 44 points in that victory. The Indians are shooting GREAT and they run all over the floor.
Valley finished at 16-4 (11-3 SOC II)
Valley takes on West Union in the first round...

I haven't seen my old alma mater play this year, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. I'm looking forward to seeing them at Waverly in the Sectional and possibly beyond.

Piketon is by no means the most talented in the D3 bracket[/quote]
Well then who is genius? I would say it's between them and North Adams. On paper, these two teams are the best. If Piketon shows up and plays to they're talent level, cuz they are loaded, they meet North Adams in the District finals.

actually it would be Regional Semis when Piketon and North Adams would match up.....but I wouldn't count out Peebles, Alexander, or Chesapeake at this point

I agree sports fan. There are some really good teams, and they all have the potential to put it all together and beat anyone. I've not seen Alexander play this year, I have seen Peebles and I saw Peake several different places over the summer, and I'm sure they have improved a bunch. Plus I think Coach Davis does an outstanding job. I just think North Adams and Piketon have the most talent. Piketon plays 9 deep and can hurt you so many ways. Same as NA, they have size and excellent guard play. Both have a press that can speed you up and cause turnovers. That's why everybody loves tourney time! Lace em up and bring it!

Re: Division III Sectional at Waverly
Actually, I think Portsmouth can stack right up there with Piketon and North Adams as far as overall talent..........now obviously there's a big discrepancy as far as records go, but I have seen the Redstreaks and Green Devils play........and there's no way that they are more talented than Portsmouth. Where the Trojans are lacking in comparison to the other 2 teams is in mental focus.........coming out and playing hard all the time..........but in terms of physical talent, there's no way that either Piketon or North Adams is more talented..........
What has been so frustrating to watch Portsmouth this year is that talent wise we match up with anyone..........but our desire, intensity, and focus just hasn't been there on a consistent basis..........
If Portsmouth comes to play with that same focus and intensity, there's no question in my mind that they can beat either squad.........but that's such a big if with our Trojans.............

At this point, I dont see how you can count out anyone in the SE.
You have:
North Adams
Piketon
Peebles
Burg
Peake
Westfall
Valley
Portsmouth
There is some quality basketball right there..

I'm glad to see everyone is overlooking Ironton.
Ironton has beat Portsmouth 2 times, and beat Chesapeake (without Lamb), lossed to Wheelersburg in OT (without Lamb).
