What a beatdown...the Peake and Portsmouth on a collision-course for the Regional Finals.*
Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
whoa one game at a time...Fairland is very good and up next for Portsmouth and we get state ranked Piketon.

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
Everyone's always saying how bad WV high school ball is compared to Ohio but since Logan (WV) is the only team this year to beat the Peake who could become the DIII Ohio state champion this year, can't you just give the Mountaineer state a little love please.

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
WV basketball is not great but usually their top teams can play.
Huntington High had some teams that would have eaten any SEO Ohio team alive imo.
Woodrow Wilson is pretty good most of the time, as is Capital, George Washington, and Wheeling Park.

Reseeding would give much more a representation of the best 12 teams in the southeast D3
Wellston didn't upset anyone to make the districts and then trailed 52-10 2 minutes into the 3rd qtr.

FANOSPORTS heres the diffrence though
Logan WV-401 boys
Chesapeake-176 boys
See my point!
Logan is in AAA in WV,How would they fare againist Ohio schools with equal enrollment?

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
I know, I know but heck, in WV they keep running out of money and consolidating schools and probably in 20 years they'll only have one school in each county if it keeps going the way it is now. I think they've got 9 more schools consolidating next year and they only have 38 to 40 schools in each division (A-AA-AAA) now. Most WV big schools could probably compete with good DII schools in Ohio but not DI. You gotta remember that Ohio has over 800 schools and WV just a little over 100.earp wrote:FANOSPORTS heres the diffrence though

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
With all due respect, Chesapeake's road may have been easy thus far, as a number 1 seed goes but the Trojans road as a number 2 has been just as easy, not in the sense of how well PHS has played, but in the sense of what you would have expected from Portsmouth "on paper". Especially how well they played down the stretch of the regular season. And then if you look at Portsmouth's 3rd tourney game is against a team Chesapeake has demolished twice. Chesapeake's 3rd tourney game is against a solid opponent in Piketon. The only difference is in both teams tournament journey thus far is, Chesapeake has played up to expectations in their bracket so far, while my Trojans have "Survived and Advanced!" Most people would've expected Portsmouth to have rolled in at least one of their two games, if not both. However, as I see it.....you don't have to beat all 7 teams at once or do it for a beauty contest, you've just got to beat one at a time.

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
Wheeling Park beat Zanesville, who then beat #1 team in D1. Logan beat Wheeling Park.
Who knows, but Huntington High over there 3 year stretch would have won d1 at least once and probably been in the final four.
I agree about the next opponents, Chesapeake has beaten Fairland twice by 40+, instead they get state ranked Piketon. I wouldn't say Chesapeake has a cake walk by any means. After Piketon if they play well enough to win, its state ranked Garaway. I believe down the stretch Chesapeake has the most difficult road.

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
Hintz had 19?WOW!
THat makes this team even more scary now,Another weapon to worry about!

Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
... the 'Peake has shored up some "weaknesses" (if you can even call them that LOL) from last years TEAM that made it to the Schott - scary isn't it - Peter Hintz was an excellent defender/good ball handler/ a quarterback on the floor for Coach Davis at the PG position ...THIS season WITH Hintz #2 in Patrick Hintz -CHS has the same if not better defense on the ball with Patrick PLUS they get a SCORER! Patrick looks to score from the perimeter/CAN score from the perimeter ... a 2nd addition as an improvement is the size of Eric Kennedy ... his length/wing span adds to the mix as to who/what combination of players Coach Davis can put on the floor ... imo the 2010-11 Edition of the 'Peake is even better than last seasons 2009-10 version of the Panthers ...
... vs the 'peake last night I had Wellston making 38 TOs as a napkin stat ... Wellston's first 8 trips down court ended with 0 shots and 8 TOs - a hint as to things to come for the Rockets - none of it good ... Chesapeake 81 Wellston 36 a final ... Wellston with more TOs than points in the game TOs 38 Points 36 a final ...

I agree 100%!!!!!!
I agree 100%!!!!!!
Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
pfloyd I believe this was your 1st chance to see this years version of the peake. Yes they are better as we have a more rounded TEAM that are not selfish as it doesnt matter who leads in scoring. I would like to see the stats for points they have from turnovers.
Re: Chesapeake vs Wellston 3/6
... peake71 - this WAS my first time this season to see Chesapeake I'm sorry to say - would have really enjoyed seeing this years group play more than that for sure BUT I did know what they brought to the floor from last season, as well I knew what Patrick Hintz could bring to the team as well from watching last years JV squad ... will be there again on Saturday and the regionals as well ... it is ALWAYS great to watch the "total" game played by a quality ball club - the peake is just that - quality top to bottom ... didn't go to the Convo tonight 8 games in 3 days did me in this weekend LOL ... my stamina just isn't there - BUT with a little rest this week I'll be ready for the Friday night D2 final and the all day extravaganza Saturday ...

pfloyd I plan on making a day of it sat. but it depends on work and how busy we are thru fri.
