You mean a ref got a call wrong? That never happens.Hookshot wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 6:49 amThere is no violation of the rule on this play. The ball hits the rim. Bounces up into the air. Explain clearly what you believe the rule is when the ball hits the top of the backboard. I want to make sure I understand your point before commenting further.
Picture 2. Fall flys over rectangular backboard.
Picture 1.Ball hits top of backboard and then comes back into play and through the rim.
This is a dead ball with possession going to the opposing team. Points should have not counted per the NFHS and OHSAA rules and regulations.
basket. It never "flies over the backboard". Only straight up into the air and back into the basket. I re-watched it several times on Spectrum this morning.
Refs got this one right but not the one with 1:40 to play when they called goal tending on Kayser -- I just don't see any justification for that call. I'd like someone to comment on what was going through their mind(s) on that one. In watching it in slow speed its closer than I thought but still the wrong call. If they made the call according to the correct application of the rule then it's just a close judgment call. Still not sure.

Refs miss calls throughout the game, even with the highest experience. That's why college is killing the game with call reviews now. It is what it is. There are human errors in the game of basketball. The player, The coach and the Ref. The ref doesn't take the bad shot or call the wrong play, so 2 out of 3 human errors are not on them. Didn't Montgomery miss like 3 to 4 foul shots?
The only issue I have in officiating is when it's inconsistent for one team or the other, which hasn't been argued. Sounds like it wasn't officiated well for both teams.
