That statement makes no sense. Are you saying that no matter how much a team fouls, the officials should just make sure that the fouls are even? A foul should be called a foul. If one teams fouls more than the other than so be it. Unfortunately, a lot of officials agree with you and go out of their way to even things up as the game goes along. If you go to the locker room at halftime and you only had 2 fouls called against you in the first half and the other team had 10, beware, because in the second half you're not going to have any calls go your way.
I wasn't at this particular game, and I did hear that the intentional foul call was absolutely horrible. However, I've seen Belpre play a few times and they foul constantly. I believe it was Athens that shot 49 Free Throws vs Belpre AT Belpre. If that doesn't tell the story I don't know what does. There have been teams that haven't shot 49 FT at Belpre in a decade! Belpre pressures extremely hard and they are not very fundamentally sound. This leads to fouling.
