Not an excuse, not a justification, but just as a fact so take it for what it is.....

This group has not been a very good FT shooting team for 4 years. As freshmen they went 17-3 and lost all three games bc of FTs missed. 15-5 as sophs and 4 of the 5 games were due to FT shooting. You can practice them all you want but practice and game situations are completely different. Every coach does in fact make their kids shoot ALOT of free throws in practice but translating that to a game is completely different. But being around this group and then watching them I know for sure they arent the best FT shooting team. But the St Charles game was ugly on both ends. Logan had chances to put them away and didnt.

Funny I say the same thing everytime you post your nonsense. Considering I spent 2 years with those kids and saw the stats all I am doing is letting people like you know its not coaching. Even if they were 98% from the line, its not coaching. Its been an achilies heel for a while. I dont give two cents what you think of the info or what you choose to think either way.

Teays Valley won 47-46 on a last second 3 pointer after Logan had taken the lead with about 9 seconds left.Very disappointing loss for Logan and once again free throw woes,Helber was really upset in his post game interview and says it could get ugly tomorrow night in his words.B-C tomorrow night if they don't cancel then Warren next week,Helber also mention Muntzer shot 700 free throws last Monday so I would assume the rest of them are shooting a lot also, just not working out

And YOU BELIEVE THE 700 ft thing right. But if a player did and keeps practicing a bad habit it will never get better. Break down a players ft shot and see if you can find anything that that they do that would justify a bad shot. A ft is nothing but mechanics and mind set. What I seen at the Tri-Valley game was just what I stated poor mechanics from several players not only Logan. Falling away from line, leaning to 1 side or another, short arming (Alligator), watching ball in flight, these things are lack of focus which = poor ft %. So no matter what Helber does or dosent do in practice until the players decide that they must do things correctly it will get no better. And I believe Logan Grad because he was with this team thru those yrs but this is no excuse. I'm sure he and the other coaches
who were there because I know who they were worked with these players on this. We all can agree on 1 thing for sure 2 losses this yr are on the players poor ft %.

Is our coaches teaching proper shot mechanics?

If the coaches have to teach shot mechanics to Varsity players, than what have the varsity players been doing on their own to make themselves better, and for how long, just during the season?

Exactly. Why would a coach have to teach a group of Juniors and Seniors how to shoot a propper FT at this point? Something isnt transfering from the practice floor to the game floor. Plain and simple. 17 of 46 the last two games is not good. As a team three years ago we shot 43%. The last two games is at 37% but as a coach you cant spend 2 hours working on FTs.

Look how Chris Jent at OSU is working with Arron Craft on his shooting, sometimes the players must want to improve on there own with help from the coaches.

Didn't Jent also help King James at one time?

At any level teaching proper shooting is one of many duties of a coach and the players must practice all year long! This logan team has problems with turnovers and foul shooting Improvment must be made in these areas or we will be lucky to win even 10 games!

The Logan kids have always played hard. I feel that has a lot to do with the coach. They always seem to box out and rebound well even against taller teams, again I think the coach should get the credit. They seem to have an idea what they are trying to do offensively and defensively. They run as effective OB plays as anybody else. But they don't make good choices on passes(turnovers) and have trouble making free throws. I'd say that's not a coaching problem unless he lets a kid throw away the ball over and over and never takes him out to calm him down. Also, he can't shoot the free throws for them. A lot of times it can be as simple as a kid saying ," I am going to make this one" instead of I hope I don't miss this one." Logan is alright, I still think they will be .500 or better.
