Bucking Red, I am Shoe's mom and I want to know exactly what is sooo embarrassing about it. Our student section didn't hold signs taunting your players, singling them out I might add. I sat and watched for the 1st quarter and a half of the second your student section shaking signs at him and taunting him every time the ball was on their end. They didn't hold up signs cheering your team on like " Go Dragons" or "Let go Fairland", they were signs about my son and him only!!!!! I have the whole taunting thing on camera as my husband videos each game. I took the first sign and then i believe it was your principal who took the second. Your student section then came out in the 3rd quarter with yet another sign and had to be told to put it away by Fairland administration. I just thought the whole thing was very uncalled for and should have never happened in the first place.
Back to topic, yes, the referees were sub par but they were deficient on both sides. This game could have gone either way and was a nail-biter til the end!!! Good luck to Fairland in the post season. Best of luck to Tyler, Kyle and Aaron as they play their final home game tonight against Scott,WV. Let's Go Peake!!!!!

wha, wha What was so bad about the signs? We've been to a lot of games where they've had individual signs-about my son. Maybe me and Pappa Paw should get together and compare tapes!! I'm glad to see the student section get so involved. For your info your student section taunted my son the entire game each time he touched the ball. You didn't see me march over to the peake side and say "Now you kids quit that right now! That's my baby!" I actually started laughing when they taunted airball
and especially laughed when under pressure he made his free throws.
Are you going to follow him to college and protect him also? He didn't act like it bothered him-he had a great game. All joking aside-good luck Peake with the post season and hopefully we'll meet at the convo. GO DRAGONS!!!

Cheering your team on is one thing, making fun, singling a kid out and making it personal, is another. Maybe if your student section had worried more about cheering on their team and a little less concern with a player on ours, the Dragon's outcome might have been a little different. By the looks of things, the signs, comments, etc. just fueled his fire!!!
Bottom line: cheer on your team, do it with class, and show some sportsmanship. I think that is something that was lacking on the Dragon's part throughout the entire game.
Good luck to both teams during post season play!
Let's go PEAKE!! We are VERY proud of our Panthers!

Personally I didn't see anything wrong with the signs. I know this for sure our student section for the most part has been better than I've seen in the past. I hope they continue going to the games and cheering their heads off. Now is when we need them the most. Hope to see a big crowd Wed. up in Jackson when we play the Ceramics from Crooksville. GO GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on. Sportmanship and you are complaining about signs and the student section where posters for both sides talked about players on their own teams cussing on the floor. That should be more of a problem. If the signs contained fowl language that is where the admistration for both teams should get together to handle a problem. Also if the signs were very offensive the coach could have told the refs and had it taken care of.
This is a rival game between schools that border one another. Where the fans work and hang out with one another after the game. Last year things were posted about the years past of barrowing of chairs" that were later returned, to alledgedly someone doing something to the other teams mascot uniform to some problems after the game. I didn't read where anyone complained about anything like that after this game.
Watch a Duke basketball game and the students are into the game. They may single out a player but does it influence the game? Or is it what the player allows it to effect their game. This season twice before the fourth quarter started of a Cleveland Cavs game fans got on Lebron James and he came out and scored over 20 points to help his team win the game. He let his play on the court do the talking to make a statement.
Games are played on the floor and when people want everyone to be politically correct in everything they do and to not hurt anyones feelings tends to take away from the rival game that it is.

bballfanatic, you just contradicted your whole post. The Peake student section verbally taunted one FHS player the whole game. BIG DEAL!!!! your comments make me think you believe the sign which only said," Ty WHO?"
was a horrible thing but chanting to a kid the whole game is ok? How was that class and sportsmanship from the Panthers? I think its all part of the game. Foul language should not be tolerated and the refs need to call better games to keep the players in check as to what is a foul and what is intentional. Watch a college game and see how the student section acts-all I can say if a kid plans on going to the next level he better have thick skin.

This was more than just a "friendly rival" type incident. This was a little personal vendetta with an obsessed Fairland female (not mentioning any names) who thinks she's cute and it just happened to involve my son . Every game that Ty has played in Fairland gymnasium it has involved some type of antics to include the student section ripping his Chesapeake shirt to shreds and tossing it around to breaking his CD's and I had just had enough. I have no problem with friendly rivalry but in this case there was more to it and i just wanted it stopped!!! I will not be commenting any more on this topic, if you have something you would like to say, PM me and don't hide behind your screenname as that would be the appropriate thing to do. GO PEAKE!

I have Chesapeake finishing with 19 games (15-4). Did they just play 19, or did I miss one somewhere? I know Ironton just played 19, and I have Meigs also playing just 19 regular season games.

I know exactly who Ty is! He is a great kid and a terrific athlete that deserves to play in your gymnasium without being harrassed by an obsessed groupie and her clonies!!!
If you ask me, he showed everyone in the gym who he was, so now there should be no questions!!!!!

Look I wasn't there, but it just sounds like a great CHS/FHS rivalry game. Over the years there has been FHS burnt on Chesapeake's field, Aaron Rice recieving black roses, Mark D'Antoni getting hate mail, and many more. I think signs are ok as long as they do not involve profanity or down grade the athlete. But, I also think it is up to the athlete to take care of the situation. As I always told my folks, "I'll handle it."
I have never played at the Peake, but I did play at Fairland a couple times. There were racial slurrs in the locker room when we got there. When we were warming up with got pelted with skittles and pennies. I have watched both teams this season and they are two fine ball clubs who will make some noise in the tourny. The teams are there to play and win, lets not make it about the team. The players and coaches are usually innocent by-standers in these things.

bucking red wrote:It was bull crap the refs let the game get away from them. Hatfield did cuss them but didn't they deserved it and I'm sure they will pay him back next time they call one of our games. Dustin didn't tackle him they got tangled up that's it. Maybe Lamb's elbow was intentional I don't know to me it looked like he was just trying to clear out and just happened to catch Rase. IMO it all goes back to the pitiful refs.
I thought you might be talking about Shoemaker's mommy getting the sign from the students that said T who now thats embarrassing.
It was probably just as embarassing as fairland gettin spanked on their homecourt on senior night.
