[quote="thecinderellapick a team cant just be "lucky" and be tied for second in their league, be sectional champs, AND be playing in the district championship game. maybe you should watch a team more than once before voicing your opinion. the indians had a rough start monday, ill agree, but wouldnt YOU be a little nervous if YOU had to play on that floor in front of all those people? i think everyone in their right mind would. cut them some slack. they ARE still kids ya know...[/quote]

I do not think the poster was referring to a season of luck, but just to the one game they did see. Lets look at it:

Western, the more expierienced and defending district champs, found themselves down 10 with 3 mins left in the 3rd to a young and inexpierienced Eastern team, and only won because Eastern lost composure down the stretch. I know they are kids, but doesn't that sound a little lucky to you?

I could be wrong, but I doubt that atmosphere makes kids nervous. If anything it fires them up. After 2 minutes into the game, the nerves are gone and its just basketball. The fans, cheerleaders, lights go away and all you see is your opponent. So I dont think the atmosphere makes them nervous. Just an opinion and observation.

Was that the District semi? It was mentioned earlier that the two teams had a common opponent in East - Waterford also played Eastern twice this season, losing one of those.

Both are quality teams considering they have made it this far. Westerns conference was down this year which helped them pick up a good bit of wins. I have yet to see Waterford except on that NEX Sports site when they played North Adams. I believe Western has to come out and play great for 4 quarters. They cant have a slow start like they did against Notre Dame or it will be to late. I am just hoping for a great game and that I am able to make the trip to the Convo!

I see you guys are discussing Western and them being lucky. If you have followed the team you would see that it is more then just being lucky. These kids have the ability to put themselves in a position to be able to win those type of games when they are down. It doesn't mean it is luck, it just means they know how to come back from a deficit. I have watched a lot of there games this year and they always come out slow in the first have, but like someone did say, they can't do that this deep into the tourny. Go Indians!

Just an observation i made is all. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, I was not putting down the young men , their team, their coaches, anything.
These kind of forums are for discussions and opinions enter into those opinions.

Again, I am sorry, but with that said, a team doesn't have to be that good to be in the districts anymore with all of the one game and out sectionals in southeast Ohio, they just have to be better than the teams they are playing.

I will watch them again, at least one more time. Good Luck..

Luck always has something to do with advancing in the tournament whether its a call by a ref or a last second shot or even if the ball bounces your way. Luck, everybody has it, its just if you can put yourself in a position that a little bit of luck goes your way.

The TVC Hocking had a mediocre year at best. Waterford does have some quality non-conference wins, Fort Frye twice, Frontier twice, both of which I believe won sectionals this year.

The good thing about this for Waterford fans is if they win they can celebrate, if they lose they can drown thier sorrows!!!

It really is a win-win situation.

Strahler and Lang need to keep playing well for waterford. Cunningham really had a solid performance vs. East as well. He'll need to have another one of those type performances vs. Western. Hendershot had a quite but solid effort. I look for Tornes and Hoge to step up and score a little more in this game.

Can anyone tell me about Western? Unfortunately I didnt make the Eastern-Western game becuase i got a little occupied in athens. But i was wondering if someone could tell me... are they big, athletic, can they shoot, do they press, play man to man or zone, and how deep are they? I really hope they are like East and come out and play man to man the whole game and don't show a press. I couldnt believe East did that.

If anything Western deserves some luck as they should've won the reginal final last year but JUST missed out.

i really cant believe this... people are actually calling western LUCKY! a team that hasnt won a sectional, thats right, SECTIONAL, in like 20+ years! with luck like that, who needs skills!??!?! ironman92 couldnt have said it better. western was VERY unlucky last year. after being the MAJOR underdogs vs. harvest prep, they hung with them, was about to win the regional championship, and it was lost literally in a second. it still makes my stomach turn just thinking about it, but i know the boys can do it again THIS year. GO INDIANS!!!
