Under the same rock hey.
Bet you wish you could wake up from under a rock and find out Howie leaving was just a nightmare. Oh wait, it is a nightmare for you. Do you still think things are better without Howie? Are the kids still having more fun without Howie? I know the FH kids seem to be having more fun with Howie. Great effort by both teams, it is just that Howie is a great coach and knows how to get kids to play better team ball. :12224

Got beat at Fed on a last second shot, then get beat by Fed at home by 24 and you say he is doing just fine? I guess the rest of the league is glad he is doing just fine. I don't remember Howie losing by 24 at home. But hey glad you are happy with your coach.

I don't recall you supporting the eagles anymore. Maybe you should just follow howie to Federal Hocking. Federal is much better now than when Eastern played them away and Eastern is slumping. So watch a game before you give your opinion

I think everyone would agree Federal should have been better at the beginning of the year than they were. Nobody said Caldwell wasn't a good coach either. Easterns coach is a first year coach with only one player with varsity experience. So put whatever spin you want on it

So from what I am reading I can paraphrase you folks as follows:

(You people get on here and praise the team when they are winning, then say they are not a good team when they lose 7 or 8 games in a row).

I think that is what is called telling the truth.

Also, did Howie ever beat a team and then later lose to them by 20? If so, remind me when that happened.

Lastly, what GW said. :12224

I never said they werent a good team, they are a good team. They play good defense and except for the last few games take care of the ball. Im not a fairweather fan like you steegal. HOWIE IS A GOOD COACH. I never said he wasn't so I dont know what all the Howie references are for. Britton is a first year coach and has a lot to learn and a lot more to experience, but he has a very young and inexperienced team. Howie has had a lot of teams that underachieved so he is by no means god like you make him out to be. Is he a better coach than Britton? I would say yes, but mind you this is Brittons first year and the odds were stacked against him from the very beginning. Did starting out 4-1 with a huge win against Southern give us a little false hope? Probably so. But Im not ready to ride Eastern off yet, there is a lot of pride in that locker room and with a player like Carnahan they have a chance to win any game. Howie didnt take Eastern lightly in preparation for the second game and that's because he knows they are a good team. Thats the truth Steegal

^^^ WOW! If they are a good team then the last 5 or 6 teams they have played must be great teams. You folks were saying early in the year, during that 4-1 run, that you were glad Howie is gone, and this new coach is a better fit with the kids, and blah, blah blah. So don't come on here and act like you never bad mouthed Howie. There is no comparison between the two coaches. Howie doesn't beat teams and then lose to the same team by 20 or more points.

I dont agree with what howie is doing but I never said he was a bad coach. The new coach is a better fit for the boys that are playing now because half of them don't like howie. It is what it is. But if you haven't seen a game and know nothing about the new coach then I don't see how you can get on here and bad mouth him and his team

Why is Steegal sour on Eastern? Wasn't Coach Caldwell the one that wanted a change.

Geesh, this thread is starting to heat up to the point that there is as much drama associated with the Shade River Valley Boy's team as there is with the Vinton County Girl's team. Never, in a million years, would I have thought that I'd be making that comparison. To quote Jackie Gleason, "Oh boy, Alice!!!!!!!!!!"

Now we have it. This coach is a better fit for the kids playing now! because most of them wouldn't play and don't like Howie. Howie knows talent and they don't have it thats why they didn't play for him because they don't want to work for it.

grow-up 78, you don't know anything about these boys or how hard they work, so lay off the kids, and i would venture to say you know nothing about howie caldwell and how he is in the gym.

I dont blame kids for not playing because they didnt want to play for him. There alot of players out there who wouldnt want to play for him. I guarantee Eastern is a lot better than he envisioned

Not sour on Easter, just those who claimed Eastern is better of without Howie Caldwell. I believe those people, and some like them, are the main reason he left. When Eastern was 4-1 those people were laughing and joking about how "Howie can't get along with kids..." Now who is laughing?

The way they are playing they don't look like they want to play for the new coach either I'd say they want to run the show and looks like they are.
