Although some people mistake our mascot for a vehicle, we were never coached by a car company.

First time I have seen Fairland play, A freshman and sophomore point guards. Along with three good seniors. Fairland completely outplayed South Webster in all areas. Definitlely would like to see them play again.

FHSstudentsection wrote:fhs has had plenty of games that have many players in double figures. not knowing anything about this team im going to make a un-educated prediction...fhs 68-59

also: this game is at chesapeake which means most likely more fairland fans and we just had a game there friday. hope those matter. go green

FHS you needed educated on jeeps O not Dragons

Rough week for Webster ends with a woodshed beating by Fairland. Disappointing to say the least for the Jeeps, but season is only half over and I doubt they'll see many teams like Waverly, Valley and Fairland in the D4 tourney, so keep at it Jeeps.

d2dragon: i was waiting for somebody to bring up the fact that fhsstudentsection was dead-on in his point-total prediction for fairland despite him being "educated" by fan of swanky.*

LOL! I was waiting for someone else to be the smart A but it was starting to look like it was going to pass. I couldn't let it go.

If they play ten times, I could see it being 50/50. Fairland was hot that night, no doubt.

Webster couldn't handle Evans on the inside, 25 pts. When they needed help on the outside it was Fuller driving. IMO Fairland would win 9 out of 10 games. Webster has the talent but they all can't seem to fire at the same time.

Aside from the Peake game, this was the game I most wanted to see. Was very impressed with Austin Loop, big kid, very smooth from the outside. However, he just didn't seem to get untracked. And Salyers for Fairland just ate the Jeeps alive on the inside.

The Jeeps are very good and would expect this would be a good "best of seven". Assuming they can find and answer to #33!

I agree with the previous two posts. I have seen South Webster twice. The talent is there. They just lack confidence at this point. At least thats the impression I get. They usually have balanced scoring and play good defense. Just something is missing.
There are still a couple of months left to figure things out before the tourney. As long as they are gelling then, the regular season matters little.

I think I've seen all but 2 games and I agree with you 100%.

Seems like the strongest part of websters game is transition offense. Shooting 20 threes a game isn't equal to running the floor

Jeep80 I don't know if you played growing up but the comment about the season matters little is a testimate to the attitude in jeep country. But if ask those players if it matters I think the opinion would be different. If it isn't there is your problem. I remember playing. Every game mattered. There seems to be a lack of enthusiasm at the games. How many dunks have we had this year and no one even stands up. Just clap their hands or play on their cell phones.
I think our previous success has almost been a detriment to the spirit of the fans especially the student cheer block.

its not the fans faults, its not the student sections fault (but they do need to get up and quit being bums)

The season does matter. But the most important time of the season is tournament time. They don't give you a trophy for going 20-0. They do for each round of the state tournament. If you are 20-0 and loss the first game of the tourney what does the undefeated season do for you? I would rather go 0-20 and win the state title than go 20-0 and lose in the first game of the tournament.
The other way to look at it is the season preparing you for a long tournament run. You could go 0-20 but if you play tough competition that prepares you for the tournament than you could use that experience to propel you to a deep run in the tourney.
And playing like the season doesn't matter doesn't prepare you for the tournament either. You have to play with the goal of getting better every game and making a deep run when it counts. When the tournament starts, every one is 0-0. The season W/L record is meaningless.

So you have totally misunderstood my point.

Last time I checked 20-0 more than likely is a conference title run and they do give trophies for that. Jeep fans (student section mainly) need to step it up a little. "Sometimes" players can feed off the energy of the crowd and it just hasn't been there for the boys. Just frustrating to see the lack of enthusiasm at these games. Hope it doesn't take a few 9-11, 1 and done seasons for the fans to realize its not all about tournament.
