Foundation Games
Re: Foundation Games
Baller1,
Yes Manchester did look very good the other night. I believe West looked a little sloppy given that they haven't had that much practice. Give them time though. As for us, we have a long way to go before we get to where we need to be but the boys are working extremely hard and seem to understand the work ethic that they need to bring in order to have a great season.

Meigs and Reedsville Eastern played last night with the proceeds going to the Meigs County Meals-On-Wheels program. The reported final score was:
Meigs - 51
Eastern - 46

I thought we played very good, still have some work to do (just like everyone else). Williamsburg is not terrible, but they do have alot of work. I thought #21 played a very good game for Williamsburg. And the best of luck to Williamsburg on there coming season. GO DRAGONS!!

Ignert1,
I would have to agree with you on your comment. They seem to like the fast pace tempo.
The Man on The Microphone,
I appreciate the wishes. Hopefully we can instill some very good basketball into the West Union program starting this year, and lasting for years to come.

Re: Foundation Games
Sparky,
I have been in the West Union program for the past three years. My first year was a volunteer assistant. I was then moved up to run the Junior High program at West Union the following year. My third year was spent as the Junior Varsity coach and now I am the head coach. In high school, I was actually better in baseball than basketball. I was one of those kids who didn't grow into my body until I graduated (gained 75 pounds; grew 4 inches in three months). I was scouted by some small schools for baseball, but not for basketball.
With the coaching situation that took place at West Union over the summer, I believe the administrations biggest concern was to find someone the boys could trust. I am not saying I was the perfect person, but I do have a relationship with the young men from West Union that has continued to build. With that relationship and trust already there and building, we are hoping to make a successful season.

Sparky,
I started and finished at Shawnee State University with a BA in Early Childhood Education. I don't remember playing Carson that much in high school. He and I are very good friends.

Re: Foundation Games
I would like to make a suggestion on foundation games. I know this is new to some schools and they might not have had time to prepare.
The spirit behind the game is to foster giving back and a understanding of giving to our community and teaching our kids a more valuable lesson.
I've attended 4 foundation games this year. I have to commend the students from Amanda Clearcreek on their efforts to raise money for the Special Olympics.
They had both boys and girls teams working the event. They held a 50-50 drawing, dinner, and raffles to promote this event. They also had a good crowd for a scrimmage game.
Schools should spend some time and prepare for these games next year. Good Luck to all the teams this year.
