Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
Reason I think this will be a big blowout is that winning breeds more winning and losing breeds more losing. Im not trying to pick on anyone, but that usually stands true for sports. I would love to see a good close game, every game, for every team but it just aint gonna happen.
Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
If we have the Wellston reffing group, could the game end in a tie?

According to VC's schedule, this is a triple header. I'm assuming the Freshmen tip-off at 5PM.
Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
That's what I thought too.....I wasn't sure if VC had a frosh team or not.
I'm sure it'll begin at 5:00.
NOTICE......It is a $2 fee to park on top of the hill in Jackson. It doesn't seem to be real popular but I just wanted VC fans to be prepared for this.....and remember it's not the person who is collecting the $2 fault. In order to charge for parking during the boys D3 tourney and the girls D4 districts.......Jackson must charge DURING the season.
Have a safe trip.

Almost every game I leave the opposing fans are not happy and mentioning it loud enough to be heard.
I just thought making a few people aware will make it a few people better for the attendant of the girl's bball program who is volunteering to collect money for no benefit of themselves....but for their kid and their respective program.

Ironman92, Good point about the parking situation. In fairness to JHS, they are charging everyone to park there, not just the visiting fans. Maybe in this day and age of higher prices on the school systems to support these programs, they are (somewhat) justified in the parking charge.

I agree the $2 parking is a joke and I know they have lost allot of people attending games because of it. However the almighty dollar has spoken!!! It is ashame because you can't take your kids to the game to watch and let them see what they might want to do when they get in high school. I also think it plays to the kids that are playing no one there to support them what kind of messege does that send!! No one else seems to care if they can charge for tournament games why Jackson?
$2 parking
$5 ticket (family of 4)
$2 water (2)
$2 pop corn? (2)
before you walk in the gym $30, this is supposed to be the puriest of sport, it is not a bussiness it is SCHOOL!!!

Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
I just pay the $2 to park (tongue in cheek), that is $2 less the concession stand will get.
GO VIKES!!

Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
Well, If you must gripe about the concession stand...
Bottle of water......$1
Bag of popcorn......$1
What does it cost to park at OU?.....$5
Personally, I know of no one not going to Jackson games because of the $2 fee.....and yes, Jackson fans also pay the $2
And it's very unlikely to get homered too badly at Jackson.......especially compared to where VC has to go in their league.
$20 tickets (is this not the price everywhere for varsity?)
$2 to park
$2 for 2 popcorns
$2 for 2 waters (we have wonderful water fountains that I approve of)
That's $26 not $30 and if it is so outrageous, well everwhere charges everything the same except for our $2 dollar parking fee......and since our popcorn and water is lower that actually offsets your trip to Jackson if your were going to buy those two items. Many in Jackson have purchased the season sports pass, which saves parents many dollars even if they only attend games of their kids....it saves me a likely of $150 or so as much as my family and I can make it out.
As for the people not going because of the $2.......Jackson never has had a good crowd at the new school as Jackson fans don't seem to appreciate kids playing hard and doing their best.....they'd rather go to rainy and cold football games and sit on their hands.

The concession stand I understand odds are all money that is collected is being split. It does take money to make these programs run and grow.
at OU:
Jackson is not a college this is high school those kids are actually getting paid to play via their scholarship.....I just think if you are trying to get more people to attend this does not help.....It just seems like an easy way to get a few more bucks out of the people who do support the kids and their efforts....
I do support them I just don't like being nickle and dimed!!!
Good luck Ironmen, keep working hard and good things will happen!!

Don't charge during the tournament then. Most high schools that hold tournament games do not charge. I know I never paid to park at Logan or Southeastern. Charging to park is a little ridiculous.

If the $2 to park benefits the student athletes at JHS there is no complaint from me.

Of the $2 being collected $1 of it goes to the athletic fund and the other $1 goes to the sporting program that is parking. Girl's program parks for boys and vice versa.
Yes, OU is obviously a college.....but if you are paying to go watch your team play...it is $5 dollars to park.....and I'm not watching college students play.
Again....the past few seasons at Jackson water and a popcorn would cost you $4.....now it cost you $2.....for many folks it's the same price as it's always been to attend a game.

Re: Vinton County @ Jackson 1/2/09
Maybe we need to start a new topic on this. We get the prices for admission, parking, water ,popcorn, chilli dogs, etc..... and post it up here. from all the schools. Of course it would have to be updated frequently.
