coal grove at river valley
Re: coal grove at river valley
Looks loke the Raiders have put it all together in the past three weeks. Wednesday's game with Gallipolis should be a good one.
Re: coal grove at river valley
There was no noone on the the 3 pt. shooter!!! he was WIDE open!!!!!!! CG cant pull out the wins in the close games!!! and we can't keep a lead!!!!!!
Re: coal grove at river valley
i agree with you sportsmom. our boys dont play smart when we have a lead and we have a hard time winning the close ones. hopefully we get better at that come tournament time... also we have to make our free throws. that has been killing our boys in the close ones
Re: coal grove at river valley
Oh enough with the negative comments! There are people on here who WANT to see Ward fail - just admit it. Whoever this kids is, he's a player and he's sick of you people ripping his coach. He's a KID!
Coal Grove is 7-6 last time I heard. When was the last season that Coal Grove had a winning record after it's first 13 games??? How pathetic can you get? It's quite humorous.... in a sad, pathetic way
Hornet323: Don't let these people get you down - just has-beens or never-weres who know nothing about basketball besides the fact that their boy isn't getting his playing time. Listen to your coach and play your heart out - he's a great coach and every coach in the area knows about him. I talk to a retired area coach - who coached at the high school and college level - at least once a week who is VERY well-respected around these parts and he has nothing but good things to say about CG's coach - both as a man and as a coach.

SportsMom, when was the last time Coal Grove was 7-6 in basketball? Too many whiny parents in the grove... Sometimes you've got to do what's best for the team to win, and I think Ward knows the game a little better than you do.. Do you think you could do a better job? Honestly?
Get off the man's back and give some credit where credit is due.

not saying he doesn't know basketball---but it's the coaching of the game !
noone's whining!!!! I don't care who the coach is---CG has a better team then what they've been showing!!! A great group of athletes!!!! They should winning but can't pull out the wins!!!!

Re: coal grove at river valley
Are you serious? The athletes have always been there... I remember a pretty good group of athletes a few years back who ran the table at 0-21... That isn't a stab at those kids, but I think you get the message. Again I ask, when was the last time Coal Grove has been at the 13 game mark and won more than they lost? 10 years at least I'm guessing. Ward has the program going in the right direction, can you deny that? At least they make the games interesting... I know Ward isn't from the Village limits, but you'll see in a few years if you don't already that he has turned that program around... BIG TIME.
Re: coal grove at river valley
what is it with everyone thinking its because hes not from the "village" ? Im not from the village either!!! noone cares about that!!! its the team being able to win the tight or ot games that matter and they arent!!! and this team is better then that!!!! watched them play and they are better then that!!!! some are more worried about t-time then the ovc games!!!! and thats crazy!

Re: coal grove at river valley
Again, you cannot answer the question... When was the last time Coal Grove was 7-6 in basketball? The close ones? Just be glad you're winning at all.. Randy Ward is the best coach in the Coal Grove school district, all around at his sport. Good things happen when you look outside the village. A lot of the problem parents have with him is that from day one he said: "I don't care who played last year, I don't care who your parents are, that don't mean a thing to me. I'm gonna put the best guys out on the floor."
I mean come on, when was the last time Coal Grove beat South Point in basketball?
How many years has Ward been there? This is his second, right? And you already want a new coach, even if this guy's doing something that a lot of others couldn't do... WIN.

Re: coal grove at river valley
That's a matter of opinion that Coal Grove has the boys to do it...It looks like they've pulled it out more than they haven't... When will you be content? He is a second year coach who inherited a team that went 0-21. Now they are WINNING.. Maybe not every single game, but they are winning more than they are losing. I can remember a few years back when they were losing by 25-40 points to most OVC teams. To win the close ones, it takes a team that has been there and played in the close ones.. Now Coal Grove knows they are capable of winning everytime they take the court. Rome wasn't built in a day madame.. Just out of curiosity, who would you appoint to be the coach?
I'm not a big fan of basketball, but you CANNOT argue with results.

Please... when you take a coaching job you might as well ask them to hand you the bullseye to put on your own back...

Haha that's what I thought. No answer - just calling me out. You know NOTHING about basketball - and you and I both know who you are (you aren't fooling anyone). Just a bit upset because your lil boy isn't getting the playing time you think he deserves. I've been to all kinds of bball games - I know what goes on: parents whining about thier kids, fans being classless, blah, blah, blah - I get it. Nothing new under the sun....
Re: coal grove at river valley
I really don't care if you know who I am or not!!! You have know clue what I know about basketball !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More than what you think !!!!!!!!! My son gets plenty of playing time!!!!!!!!!! THANKYOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! It's about being able to win in the ovc when it matters!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the tournament!!!!!!!!! I'm not the only one that feels this way!!!! EVERYONE'S ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION!!!!!!!!!!! WE JUST HAPPEN TO NOT AGREE!!!!!!!! My point was that CG can't win the close ones!!!!! and they have the team to do it!!!!! Not doggen the kid's at all-never would!!!

Well, you definitely know how to use those exclamation points, so just keep yelling and maybe someday someone will listen to you. You're not the only one who feels that way? Funny, would these others rather go back to the 0-21 days? The man has been there for 2 years and the program has almost done a complete 180 turn around. If you know so much about basketball, why don't you put your application in? What's CG's record in the OVC anyways? I'm guessing better than last years already, and certainly the year before... Sometimes it takes a couple years to get a program on track, and in this case, there wasn't even really anywhere to start. I'm asking, who would you like to coach the team? Who could do better? The fans in the stands always have their opinions of "how they'd do it". Coal Grove's winning games, period.

Yes I do.... and the answer is almost certainly next to nothing, except when your kid is on the floor.

Really? I guess bruiser doesn't think so. Winning in the OVC when it matters? Again, Coal Grove hasn't won in the OVC hardly at all since the 04-05 season, at least. I don't even know the last time CG won a tournament game. We're not even to the tournament yet - lets cross that bridge when we get there.

I know you aren't the only one that would love to see Ward fail...and it's sad.
Re: coal grove at river valley
you know nothing about me and don't presume that you do! Again everyone is entitled to their opinion! I really don't care who agrees with me or not! you see what you see and you call them the way you call them!!! Everyone knows that CG has the team to win in the ovc-were just not doing it!!! it doesnt matter what we've done in the past! It's the here and now that matters!!! Oh let me quess females cant know about sports!! give me a break!!!
and by the way I don't want to see anyone fail!!! I just wish he would start coaching to WIN!!!!

Re: coal grove at river valley
7-6........ Sounds to me like they're winning for the first time in a while. I will go out on the limb and say you do not know near what Ward knows about basketball... FACT.
