I say that Clay has a chance to win, if they play as a team. There r a few "ball hogs" on the team that r more concerned with getting their name in the paper that winning the games. When you have open guys under the basket and players r trying to drive the ball in that is not team playing. The coach needs to sit these boys out and put players in that want to win, (like some of the juniors) and not the so called "stars". I have been to several of the games and I am not seeing what some of you are seeing. Just because you are scoring the most points per game, doesn't win the game! players r going to have to step up and play as a team to win this one. Good Luck Panthers

Panthers better be ready to play. I talked to SV coach and he said his team only shot @ 20% from the floor last game and the impression I got it wasn't because of any "stellar" defense that was played. I wouldn't bank on the first games results and come out and play hard. Good luck panthers and get a big W.

I don't know anything about the halftime warmup. So i'll just talk about tonight's game. if Clay closes out and symmes valley has another rough shooting night. Then its Clay by 12. And if clay is to win they have to shut down Tibbs.

Sorry about changing the subject but the juniors that sit the bench play J.V. And they basically run the j.v. team and the j.v. team hasn't won a game. if u r going to play the juniors on varsity maybe they can show up on a j'v game. I don't know what Coach Trainer is thinking but he's going to run into the same problem Coach Ward had. in a couple of years have a good year and then have no talent the next.

there are some kids that did'nt play this year because of the "BALL HOGS" i have seen it myself 3on 1 and no pass and the defender on the ball the shooter missed the shot. THIS IS WHY YOU PLAY AS A TEAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHO CARES WHO SCORES AS LONG AS YOU WIN!!!!!!!!!!
GO GET THE WIN PANTHERS. :122249

aquaman wrote:Clays problem tonight was partly on the coach. He needs to drive the point home to certain kids who get flustered and make bad decisions in the last moments to not foul or to not throw up 3 point shots when you don't need to. The same trouble they have been having all year. Also, where was the big men, again? If any other team had 2 kids that are 6'5" ... I know they would use them . Let's hope for a better game next time.

Clay leads at the end of the first quarter 16 -11 on back to back threes by Bussler. SV ties it up at 18 -18 at the 6:00 mark of the second quarter and takes at 23-20 lead with 2:00 to go in the half. Clay manages to tie it up 25 - 25 at the half. Tibbs picks up his third foul at the 5:00 minute mark in the third quarter and never picks up another foul the the last 13 minutes. Clay has a 37 -31 lead and is running clock down for a last shot, but unexpectedly takes a 3 and misses with 12 seconds. SV grabs the rebound and hits a three at the buzzer to make it 37 - 34 at the end of third quarter. SV goes ups 38 - 37 with 6:00 remaining in the fourth and takes a 43 - 37 lead after Clay makes two unforced turnovers in two trips down the floor. Puckett hits a three at 1:56 to pull Clay back to 49 - 47 and Mershon connects on a three to tie it at 52 - 52. SV travels with 56 seconds and gives Clay the ball but the can't score. Tibbs blocks a shot and and Clay gets the ball back but after a wild inbounds play they miss a lay-up and SV has the ball. Clay is called for a reach around foul and send SV to the line. Craft his both FT's for his only 2 points of the night. Clay comes down and take a three pointer that rims out and Clay fouls Tibbs on the rebound who hits his only 2 FT's of the night. Clay takes their last time out with 10 seconds, down 4 points but can't manage to get a shot off.

Points
Clay
Bussler 15
Valentine 8
Mershon 8
Puckett 8
Burchett 5
Ratcliff 4
Lawson 4

SV ( I am missing 6 points )
Tibbs 24
Taylor 7
Payne 5
Powell 4
Stanley 4
Craft 2
Wilson 1
Unknown players 6

Sounds like Clay needs to learn some discipline and listen to the coach. If he wants you to run the clock down for the last shot then you don't chuck up a 3 with 12 seconds left. Also sounds like they need to learn how to protect a lead at the end of the game.

claygrad wrote:I was at the game, and it is as much the coaches fault than the players. The kid who took the 3 pt shot with 12 second left took at least 8 more in the 4th. Probably went 2 for 12 on the night. Took a three near the end when they were down 4 pt and one when they wer down 2 pts. If the coach doesn't discipline players for those shots then everyone start taking them. I saw in an early post the assist ratios and it would be easy to figue out who has very few. When SV big player picked up his 3rd foul the fans were telling the players to take it in on him, but did the coach? he just watched them keep jacking up 3 pt shots. The few times they took it in on him he just backed away. The refs, as usual were horrible. 1 foul shot that I can remember in the first half. Clay only made about 2 or 3 our of 6 or 7 total shots. No calls made either way all night. there are just a few players on this team playing team ball, the rest our out for themselves.

If that's the case then Clay isn't going to win many more games this season. You have to have a TEAM chemistry and play as a TEAM if you want to win. If it keeps up then the coach needs to bench those players and send a message that he isn't going to tolerate it.
