Very ugly game for the Tigers but they kept fighting losing by 19. I think they lost by 21 at home.
The Tigers were missing Derek Roback who remained at home suffering from some kind of sickness. Jake Kretzer played but had strep this week.

The 1st quarter pretty much propelled the Oaks tonight as they lead 19-6 after one.
Londin picked up his 2nd foul in the quarter with the Tigers in striking distance. With Londin on the bench and Roback missing the Tigers could not handle the inside and the Oaks pushed the lead to 31-10 at halftime.

The 2nd half saw the Tigers actually outscore the Oaks.
Waverly had cut the lead to 18 (44-26) and holding for the last shot to trim it to 16 or 15 (with a three) but stepped out of bounds with 6 seconds to go in the quarter. Borden came down and hit an uncontested 3 at the buzzer to put the Oaks back up by 21.

The 4th quarter was played pretty much even the entire way.

Tigers continue to struggle to find ways to score in the "big" games. I still feel like they have the ability to be a dangerous team. Tough without Roback (defense and offense). Oak Hill is obviously an excellent team, but these Tigers are a bit preplexing to me. You do get this with a young team, but I believe this team has the weapons (Lundin, Martin, Kretzer and Roback) to compete night in and night out.

GO CAVS!!!

By the looks & sounds of this game Waverly really shouldn't have played this one at this time. Level 3 Snow Emergency forced power outages thus leaving Waverly's practice facility an emergency shelter. Try not holding practice for a few days then practicing in a half-court gym filled with cots. Lundin on crutches until Thursday; Kretzer/Roback with a virus. You could tell by the shot percentage that it was an off-week for the Tigers.

Tigers need to get a stretch of wins going into the tourney drawing.

Hopefully the bad weather is behind us and EVERYONE can get back to a normal schedule. Look for the Tigers to be back on track soon.

gggRRRrrrrr....

I know the Tigers play and normally practise in the old Waverly gym, but why can't they have a practise at their new gymnasium on the hill? Is there a rule that only the girls can use it? It's a great thing that the Red Cross set up shelter for those in need.

Maybe they were too quick to re-schedule that game---especially considering the illnesses and injuries---all the other schools were limited to practises also and most of those games aren't being played 'til next weekend. It's gonna be a hectic schedule from here on out for everyone.

I really didn't understand making this game up on Saturday either, thus my earlier post; "Will things be that much better in just one day? Just asking, I don't know how bad things are over Oak Hill way." I was referring to the entire weather related conditions also knowing the Tigers were not healthy.
The Tigers had a terrible week and were not PREPARED to play a basketball game.

MoonTang,
They cannot get a stretch of wins before the draw unless you mean two. They host South Webster on Friday and travel to Vinton County on Saturday before the draw on Sunday. Win both and they will be 10-5 for the Sunday draw. That should solidify a 4 or 5 spot. It doesn't matter which because 4 plays 5. It is much tougher if you slide to the 6 spot because you end up playing the 3 which will most likely be Hillsboro. Logan Elm and Chilly will be 1 and 2.

You could have played this game Saturday, or 5 weeks from Saturday, and you would have gotten the same result, a loss. Waverly just don't have the scoring threats to beat Oak Hill. Not a good matchup for the Tigers.

No one is saying the Tigers would have beaten Oak Hill had the game been played at a later date. We do know however they had NO chance Saturday night with things the way they were.

Waverly beat Hillsboro in a scrimmage in November. Doesn't mean they can beat them now but a six seed is better than slipping to a seven seed then playing a play in game to play Chilli or Logan Elm.

6 is usually always better than being a 7 but in this case it doesn't really matter.
7 plays 10 with the winner playing #1 (Logan Elm).
6 plays 3 with the winner playing #2 (Chilly).
Which would you want?

So, you can see why we want the 4 or 5.

6 plays 3 with the winner going to Athens. 4 plays 5 winner goes to Athens. The winner of 7-10 plays 2. The Logan sectional looks a lot weaker but those teams play in the SEOAL so who knows- it tournament time.

I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that, you are correct, the 7-10 winner plays #2. The winner of 8 & 9 plays #1.

Waverly definitely deserves atleast the #5 seed,as long as they take care of business this week, and win 2 out of there 3 games.Going to be tough at Vinton Co,but that would not hurt them in the seeding.A win would be impressive but as long as they do not get blown out it will not hurt them in the draw.
