I think VC should be the #1 seed if they have the better record at the cutoff!!! Thats how it s always been If they beat Waverly that puts them at 12-1 with the only loss out of conference!!! No way should Marietta get the 1. They should earn it like the Vikes had to!!! years and years of 8 and 9 seeds!!!! You have to beat em to take it away!!! If Marietta beats them in the finals, if they make it then they can say we told you so!!!!!!!

I agree. Let me say this, first Vinton County is 12-1 right now, a win over the Tigers on Saturday night pushes the Vikings record to 13-1. If the Vikings win on Saturday it is lunacy to argue that they are NOT deserving of the one seed. However, it they loose and enter the draw at 12-2 and Marietta is able to take care of business tonight against Ironton, then the Vikings would see that maybe that Marietta is deserving of the one seed, they have a very good team and have played a tough schedule, no doubt about it. That notwithstanding, there is no way that anybody else should leap frog these two fine ball clubs.

In Vinton County defense, the Vikings are NOT going to apologize for the league in which they compete. I believe that this year especially the TVC-Ohio has been a very good league. Of course the TVC-Ohio will never garnish any respect until the bully on the corner has grown up and move away, (or disband). The basketball that is played in the SEOAL, is quality basketball, but to say that the TVC-Ohio is inferior is a weak argument. Furthermore, the seeding is a game of political cat-and-mouse, last season the Vikings entered the draw at 15-1 and received the one seed by the slimmest of margin of votes over a 12-5 Warren team. I am not sure, but it is times like this I would almost welcome a computer rating system much like the one they have for high school football.

What quality wins over D2 or D1 teams does VC have??

What quality wins over D2 or D1 teams does Marietta have??

These should determine the seeds not overall record.

Like it or not VC is not 12-1 in the SEOAL, heck Warren beat them in the foundation game this year.

Again, no respect. The foundation game was a SCRIMMAGE. Coach Combs played 12 guys, worked on a lot of different combinations of substituting, show very little offensive and defensive stuff, kept it very simple and did NOT game plan for Warren. So now, if this is the price that is being paid for these CHARITY Foundation Games, then maybe Vinton County will cease to be a part of something that should be wonderful. That is as ridiculous as saying let's all list every scrimmage we played and how many quarters we lost. Moronic.

Tribetime, again that was the exception to the rule. Chillicothe, not a true Chillicothe team by the way, played a true homegrown Vinton County team and beat them soundly, by 47 to be specific. However, there is NO ONE WE COULD HAVE PUT ON OUR SCHEDULE that would have prepared us for Chillicothe. NO ONE. The Cavaliers had one lost last year, early in the season, NO ONE was beating them or DID beat them. It is amazing to see the smugness and arrogance that follows high school sports and moreover, they are able to buy a computer. Wow.

The system as of now is based on record!!!! not who you played or should have played. (+) dont the coaches of the district vote on the seeding!!!!!!!!!!!!

VC wins at Waverly they will be the #1 seed no matter who or what Marietta does besides that Ironton will beat them tonight and this discussion wont even matter then becasue that will almost lock VC at #1

kosmo, If VC beats Waverly(btw-game is at VC) Marietta fans will still argue that they should have the #1 spot. OK, lets go 3 more days and if VC wins that game, dont want to hear their arguement anymore.

The system is not based on records. The seeding goes by the coaches in the sectional getting together this weekend and voting. Has nothing to do with records. Infact if one conference has a majority of the teams they can often dictate how the seedings go and get the favorabel matchups they want. Nothing to do with records. Seen it happen many times.

The coaches should vote on who they think is the better team not who has the better record.I think Marietta is the better team.

Lets see one team is playing D-2 teams like Jackson,Gallia,Zanesville,Ironton,Fairland,Chillicothe, and Warren.

The other team is playing teams like Nelsonville,Athens,Wellston,Belpre,Alexander, and Meigs.

Oh my bad! Jackson and Gallia are way better than Athens and Alex!!!!!!!!

Chillicothe and Zanesville and Warren are Solid teams

We usually play Greenfield and Unioto, Zane Trace

it all equals out!!! How did Marietta due last year in the playoffs???

So youre telling me that if Marietta loses to Ironton that the Coaches of D2 would pick a team with 4 losses 10-4 over a team 13-1(If we win Wav.) with wins at Alex12-1, Jackson, Waverly and Logan solely becasue they lost to better teams!!!!!

The record has to reflect part of the decision on how they vote!! It has to!!!

And Logan....no matter that Alexander is a D3. They are one of the best D-3 teams, if not the best, in SE Ohio.

I guess the thing that peeves me about this is let any of the teams around SE Ohoi beat VC, and theyre sure quick to point to that and proclaim what a quality win that is.

It doesn't matter what you fools on this message board think. It only matters what the 10 coaches of these teams think. I'd say if VC wins over Waverly and Marietta loses to Ironton, then VC should be a lock.

I did, if you read above you will see that I posted some of Vinton County's wins.

So much was made of our schedule last season and its looks like it is going to be an issue this season. After graduating several talented individuals, and having one sometimes two senior starters, some juniors and three sophomores that grace the current Varsity rosters, many prognosticators and most on this forum have all left the Vinton County program for dead. But yet, Coach Combs have strengthen their schedule as opposed to last years, and yet, Coach Combs and his staff and the players find a way to win, and they do it playing hard, great defense, being prepared for their opponent, and they do it with class. And this was supposed to be a REBUILDING year? Here is a thought, lets look past the schedule and admire what Coach Combs et al have been able to do in the last 10 years. I wonder if Coach VanMetre, Coach Persin, Coach Jordan went through this in their first 10 years?

Exactly, coaches with a win against Vinton County will list us first as a quality win, why is that? We are mediocre at best and play in a terrible league. It is unbelievable.
