congrats to Waren on a hard fought win, and good luck the rest of the way.

the Trojans started out hot, and then only scored 5 points in over a period and a half it seemed,,,but battled back mid way through the final period, and had a chance to take this to over time, but commited a fould with .01 on the clock to send warren to the free through line, where they made both to put this game a way.

hope you all have a safe trip home.

Trojans, get ready for Logan on friday...

A.C. made the winning free throw with .01 on the clock. After that the coach from Portsmouth got a tech. foul and all h*** broke loose.

Rare Thursday night game,so I was able to make it down.

Portsmouth loked somewhat better then when I seen them earlier.

Why Diddn't Willams Start?

why did Bendolph get yanked in the second quarter and not come back?

Horne had a great game with 28 or 30 points, and Willams had 18 while only playing 2 quarters, the Trojans hang in with their 2 starters playing only half the game :? :?

Seen Burgs coach, and North Adams coach up in the rafters ,looked like they was getting some inside help ,scouting the Trojans from a litttle weasel  .

I would guess for discipline reasons........an on going problem I believe we have that has held this team back from its potential.........Trojans need to regroup, rest and let's make a deep tournament run!! Go Trojans!

I wondered why the best player on the team didn't start but I find it hard to believe it was over disciplinarily reasons.

Other than disciplinarily reasons why else would a kid that scores over 20 points a game not start? I believe he didnt start becuase he missed a practice.

If Portsmouth could play a whole game with the intensity that they played with in the fourth period. we wouldnt have just 9 wins. Take that to Logan tonight, and the Playoffs in Waverly on Monday.

Congratulations to the Warriors on the win.........Warren took control of the game in the second quarter after Portsmouth built an 18-10 lead early........but the Trojans made a spirited comeback in the 4th quarter to almost pull this game out.........PHS actually pulled even at 66 when the unfortunate foul call was made with .01 seconds remaining..........the officials DID NOT cost Portsmouth the game........but it is rare to see that kind of a call made at that time of a game.......the Trojans had their chances to win this game.........like biggdowgg said, PHS went into a scoring drought which allowed Warren to take command of the game.

VERY PROUD of the Trojans battling back from a double digit deficit in the last period.........I hope Portsmouth can take that 4th quarter play to the tournament on Monday. As Ozzie said, we showed some intensity which has been lacking in quite a few games this year.

Grant Venham had a very good game for Warren........did a good job on the glass and was tough to stop in the paint........I believe he is only a sophomore.........so Coach Maddox has a real star in the making............the Warriors should have a very good team next year with quite a few kids coming back...........

Tory Horne was sensational for Portsmouth, scoring 28 points........his high for the year.......and Anthony Williams tossed in around 20.........Forrest Johnson 10.............

GO TROJANS!!!

rockfish: I did not predict a state championship for Portsmouth.......I predicted that the Trojans had the talent to reach the Final 4 and possibly win the state title.........it was not a rock solid prediction to win the state.........there were people I talked to OUTSIDE the program who thought big things for the Trojans as well..........I talked to Coach Maddox of Warren at the Convo earlier this season and he felt that we would make a long tourney run in D3........

And we haven't been eliminated from the tournament yet.............

I would rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right...........our program has been beaten down enough the last several years.......it's time to turn the mindset at Portsmouth around........from negative to positive...........

Most years I am "glass is half full" person.......I try to glean something positive from a rather bleak situation...........

Next year I am going to be severely tested to see the glass as "half full"........as I have told others, 2009-2010 could be a very rough year at PHS.......with all the seniors, including Anthony Williams, that we are losing and the fact that our JV team has struggled all year.

But I will be there, Lord willing, to support the Men of Troy, win or lose.........

GO TROJANS!!!

I was really glad to se us battle back in the 4th to give us a chance to win this game,I seen something we have not seen much of all this year, we played HARD, and we GOT AFTER THE LOOSE BALLS, we had kids on the floor, and battling.

this is what has been missing all year, and "IMO" theres no excuse it dont take talent to play and WANT it more then the other team.

as Dave said, Warren has a good team, and will be even better next season with their talent coming back.

good luck to them.

biggdowgg: The lack of intensity and hustle has been the most frustrating part of this season........like you said, it doesn't take athletic ability to do that.........I just wish our kids had been playing like that all year........our record would be different........

Biggdowg, comment was not meant towards PHS. Was referring more to tournament play, didn't come out right. I think PHS is a better team than the record shows as well. You and Trojandave keep a positive mind set. Continue to encourage your team on and off the floor. God and encouragement can change a boys life!!
