Hitch, I was at that game. That guy such a high arch on his shot you thought it was gonna hit the rafters when he shot. He was very good though. Wonder where he went?

Yes Dru Joyce, teammate of Lebron James put himself on the map. Not bad for a "small" guy. Just watched it on "More than a game".
Akron had his height listed at 6'. He grew 14'' in high school? The coach of that St.Vincent-St.Mary team was at one of Peebles' open gyms this season, it was pretty cool to get to see him in person. He is the head coach at Akron now.

Was Joyce in the same class as LeBron? I rememeber two of the years he played at the state and I thought he was around 5'4....very small with huge heart for the big shots....it helped that no one was guarding him.

Washington Court House had a couple of short guards that could play a few years back. One's name was Greathouse and I can't remember the other. They were pretty darn good.

Keith Dambrot was ASVSM's coach for Dru and Lebron's first 2 seasons and then Dru Joyce Sr(the 2nd, whatever) took over and has been coaching since then.
Joyce was tiny when he was a freshman, but ended up near 6 foot and started at Akron(with ASVSM teammate, Romeo Travis) and they had some pretty solid teams.
Michael Cheesbro was the 1st player I thought of when I saw this thread, man, those Peebles teams were awful to play against. Ridiculous defensive pressure and intensity, you didn't get a break for 32 minutes.

I have been trying to think of that guys name too since I read this topic. He was very good and played college ball too.

Lynchburg Clay has a kid that is around 5'-5'1". They have him listed at 5'7" but you can clearly tell he is about a foot shorter than the kid that is 5'11" standing next to him in their team photo.

lol....that's Brandon McCarthy....had him in class until he was a 3rd grader. At about 4'10 in jr high he was the 100 and 200 meter champion for the entire SHL ...taking down all the over sized and matured 8th graders in the league. He might be 5'2...but Lord he's fast!
I think he's a sr....was in class with the current Whiteoak seniors back in grade school
