Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
um checkmate... your post is way out-of-line!
You can not hold a student/athlete accountable these days! Shame on you! That would go against everything most of these young people hear @ home! A coach as an authority figure!?! Noway!
Seriously though, Nice post! Refreshing to see evidence of intelligence out there!!!

Don't know where you heard that but RaShawn is not going to Warren. If he was to transfer anywhere it would be to PHS since his Dad lives in Parkersburg.

I'm not sure that's legal!!! If his dad lives in the Burg why does he go to Belpre. I think somebody tried that before and got in trouble?!?!?
GO EAGLES!!!

Very legal!!! He lives with his Grandparants in Belpre where he has lived all of his life. His Dad just happens to live in the "BURG"
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
I'm not sure we can blame coaches for everything, I made it to a few of the Eagles games and it seemed they didn't work as a Team. I f these guy's coming back can gel and work together they have a chance to do well next year. I do think that not all the coaches are that bad, some of them can coach.

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
I think I know RaShawn pretty well also and I didn't say that he was transferring anywhere but I can assure you that he will not be going to Warren. He could go to Parkersburg if he chooses to live with his Dad,which he can do at any time.I'm looking forward to him playing at Belpre for the next two years and showing everyone there that he should have been a varsity player this year and that he can help the Eagles be a good team in the future.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
RaShawn is a great kid, the games I watchd this year at the JV level he played well, I do think as a player he had a stronger year as a Freshmen he played much harder don't know if it was the offense they had last year or what, and maybe this year the JV coach should've had more faith in him. Belpre will enjoy his service next year. PS he would not be able to play at Warren without loosing a year of playing time, now he could go and live with his father and play at PHS.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
Rashawn isnt going anywhere, i can promise you that. He will be a varsity starter next year. As for the coaches, is not the coaches job to get the team to gel? to find 5 guys that can play together on that given night. Its the coaches job to discipline his players. As far as im concerned its wayyy more the coaches then it is players. The kids go out there and do whatever they want, say whatever they want, because they know there will be no consequences because plummer is a softy. He will not discipline his players the way they should be disciplined. That is the coaches fault that the players dont respect him as a coach. I have always said to gain respect you must earn it, and plummer has not done that because the players know hes not a good coach.
Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
They had a good JV Team and Tate is coming back I think they should be a factor in the TVC next year

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
why are we talking about rashawn miller this and that? Him "dominating" in jv games? Parsons and Slattery did the exact same things last year i remember seeing. Parsons more than slattery but none the less. Parsons got a varsity jersey but they didnt use him.
Starting 5 next year
Tyler Watkins
Pat Slattery
Markie Tate
Channing Parsons
Erik Wadeker
Only player off the bench i see is miller though.
Plain and Simple

Re: 2010 Belpre Eagles
Belpre has become the "the good ole boy" network in all sports (football, basketball and track) ! You have an AD who who coached/taught them the 90's so he gives them and their friends coaching jobs (when you have qualified teachers apply for the jobs) and the result is average to below average! And the boys basketball program has become the Plummer Family showcase. (Grandpa, dad, and son)...sad for such a school with such a strong tradition in all sports.
The fact is, with discipline and coach that won't take the parents crap and they will be successful.

checkmate27 wrote:ok folks, here's the truth about the current state of belpre basketball...a program that used to dominate. belpre has a coach currently who knows basketball and can coach the game if he had athletes who wanted to learn the game. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. i am an outside viewer of this situation. belpre has great athletes and pretty good basketball players, but if a team does not want to play within a coaches philosophy something needs to change. AND its not the coach. This is high school folks and this is not an elite program anymore, these players need to adapt to their coaches style and they will win. if any these players want to play college ball, like i have heard many of them think they have a chance to, they will have to play in a system or be gone. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. for 2010, attitudes and egos need to be left at the door and this team will have a chance to be a decent team.
Blaming parents is crazy. Because these kids were playing 3 on 3 everyday in practice while Vinton Co and Alexander were actually preparing a game plan, had more to do with the teams record then all this hogwash I read on this forum. I watched these kids play at Nelsonville and while the Buckeyes had a game plan to slow down Tate, box and one, triangle and two and some matchup zone what did our coaching staff do? "NOTHING" Our kids were playing street ball. Well if you haven't worked on ways in practice to overcome that sort of thing your success will be limited. Tate exploded for 11 points in tht 4th quarter at NY and we got the win but it had absolutly nothing to do with what the coaching staff did. Rather the heart and desire of these kids. That may work against the NY's and Wellstons of the world but against sound well coached teams you don't stand a snowballs chance in h---
