Saw this game, was tragic. Trimble had come back from a 20 pt deficit and were only down 12 pts with 3min. 17sec. to go when the coach just gave up and pulled out his first string and put in his subs. They ended up getting trounced by 30 pts. If Coach Skinner of Athens had had the Trimble coaches mentality, he would never have guided his team back from an 11 pt deficit with 3 minutes to go to beat Vinton County to win the TVC outright. Sad, because Trimble has some good individual athletes that could be guided to make a good TEAM, but you've got to be willing to never say die and fight to the end. The team takes their cues from their coach, so when he gave up, what else would you expect the kids to do, especially when he's pulled the starters and is just setting there with his arms crossed over his chest, waiting for it all to be over.

I was also at this game and I saw things from a little different perspective. First off, let me clarify I've seen trimble play 3 times this year and that I am not a Tomcat fan. I have no ties to the school or to the coach: But the first half, Guthrie was BEAT UP in the paint and absolutely nothing was called. SV did a great job of cutting off Guthrie for a while, but there were 3 or 4 times when he actually did get the ball that a foul should have been called, but wasn't. And like i said, thats the first half--and mainly the first quarter. It was just bad to watch. With that being said, I don't see why everything is the coaches fault... You could see on trimble's players faces after the first quarter that they had just given up. I recall a time when the coach yelled at the point guard for driving inside into 4 PLAYERS and making a bad shot on the basket because he didnt run the play. The coach told him, "you have one more chance to run the play" Yes, i dont know what their plays consist of, but he still should have ran something. 1 on 4 is not team basketball. If the coach was the one passing into triple teams and causing steal after steal by SV, then yes it was totally his fault. Yes, trimble was a completely different team this season for the most part, but the coach didnt lose this game. Had it not been for the 1st quarter, this would have been a great game. but when you can only score 3 points in a quarter, 9 times out of 10 you're not winning.

Thats my perception.

Very good post gh123. I would like to thank the Eastern fans that cheered for the Cats and against symmes. The majority of the Eastern fans stayed and supported the Cats. Wish we could have give them something more to cheer about. I dont know what game or even season pushinit was watching. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year that the Cats would win 12 games this year, I would have said no way. As far as I am concerned, this has been a very good rebuilding year. Trimble has some very good young players coming in to the system and some that will be expected to contribute from the JV (who ended up playing very good basketball at the end of the year). Now that our season is over. Eastern go down and get the job done. Here is one Tomcat fan that is pulling for you. Good luck EAGLES!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the league is turning around or we are finally getting used to league, but it seems that there is more solidarity in the league recently.

Pushinit must live on high street. Good luck Eastern. The TVC is still in the tourny, and hopefully will be represented well into it.
