Clay is better then there record to but when you have people out for suspensions and injuries its hard to keep a season going.

Agreed. TVC proved it on the court, although both games were very competitive and could have gone either way. I give the TVC schools credit and wish them well the rest of the way.

The individual schools rise or fall on their individual merits and some bottom feeder from any league cant beat on their chest and brag about their league. Ironton has been independent for decades and was independent the last time their basketball teams (girls and boys) went to state the same year, as well as their football team's last state championship. What league made them better? Tiny South Gallia has made several Convo appearances as an independent along with two football playoff berths. The SOC refuses to admit them even though Symmes Valley is in the SOC. What league made South Gallia better? How about Portsmouth?

I could go on, but the point remains that the best programs are the best programs because of their own excellence and dedication, which has nothing to do with league affiliation. Burg would be Burg with or without the SOC.

This season the TVC is better than the SOC1. Top two TVC teams came out and I dont think any SOC1 schools are still in it...

gahs4ever---I don't think I necessarily agree with all of that. Success breeds success and the Burg has has had a lot of it in the SOC. To the point that I've known several people move there over the years to start a family and be part of it. Even if you don't like them---you have to respect them. Now, put them in something like the SEOAL or something where they probably wouldn't be as successful every year then maybe some of that would have different. I think the league has had a lot to do with there overall success. Good teams in a good league have a lot of confidence playing outside teams. just my opinion.

the only way to know who is the best overall is if the #1 plays the #1 and 2 plays 2,3plays 3,4 plays 4 and so on and then see who has the better winning %. since that will never happen we will never know who is the best overall.

I know Wheelersburg is not SOC 1 but they have played two games against TVC teams and they were the weakest two teams the Pirates played this year. West, the bottom of the SOC II this year with no league wins, gave Wheelersburg a better game than either of the TVC teams.

That is crazy

VC and Athens are both D2 schools. Don't be fooled, D2 schools have to beat each other out of the tourney to make it to the regional unlike other schools who play a weak team and get to play in the convo. I give it to the burg they did beat oak hill but could they make it to the convo every year in D2???

Burg would definitely make it to the convo year in and year out in D2. That was hard for me to admit.

So you think Burg would beat out Logan Elm, Chilli, Warren, Waverly, VC, Jackson, Athens, Sheridan (just to name a few) year in and year out?

It not an unfair question. The point is, Those are the teams that make it to the convo each and every year and i dont see burg beating them 'year in and year out'. Sure they could make it once in a while..but to say it in such a way that they would have no problem getting by this group is a stretch. Thats all im trying to say..and i think you would agree with me on that..?

There are only three division 3 teams in southeastern Ohio that I could actually see competing with the best division 2 teams in the southeast district most years. I am not saying win, but the key word is compete. One of those teams is Wheelersburg, and the other two are Ironton and Portsmouth.
