Big guys have a way of changing team strategies and at the high school level it's harder to do than when you have more talented college athletes. That's the reason I picked Garaway in my original post above.

People have said before every game that Chesapeake won't be able to handle the big men...and they always do. Chesy's big guys didn't even play that well on Saturday and the big men didn't kill them. I'm hoping they can do it again on Wednesday!

Lets go Garaway! Hopefully you will get better officiating than my beloved Zane Trace did!

So Phil, you're blaming the loss on the officials? It might not have been a great officiated game but they certainly didn't cost you the game. You (ZT) didn't have an answer for Copley! The refs called equally bad on both ends of the floor. It seems whenever you get to the Convo the refs will let the kids play. You just have to suck-it-up and go stick somebody.

The "big" kid for Garaway is Paul Honingford, who is a junior now and has started for 3 years on the varsity.......I saw him 2 years ago at the Convo when Garaway won the Athens regional, beating Bishop Ready in the final.......he was 6-7 then, and have seen him listed at 6-9 now......he is mobile, active, and will a tough matchup for Colin Kennedy.

Good luck Panthers from this Portsmouth Trojans fan........

Paul Honigford has offers from Michigan St & Ohio U. ...& is also scheduled to visit Dayton & Miami Ohio. Dont compare him to other bigs Chesapeake has played. This kid is real deal.

Define real deal??I saw him play againist Fairland in 2008 and he was a non factor! The Gerber kid was pretty much the whole team back then,The rest of the guys were pretty much role players for him!Now granted I am sure this kid is much better than he was 2 years ago! Also I saw him againist Cleveland Central Catholic in the title game that year and once again not impressed!I say Peake goes right at him and tries to get him in early foul trouble,But we all know that probably wont happen since it will probably be refs from the Canton area like when Fairland played them!About this time of the year is when you get the old "Up North Treatment"!

I just hope this game is decide by the play on the court and not the men with the whistles. It is always around this time in the tournament that the officiating goes in the crapper. Chesapeake has to stay out of foul trouble, especially in defending Honigford. I Honestly believe if Copley and McMasters come with their A games they are a final four team. Chesapeake I think needs to go inside to Kennedy force Hornigford to play defense. Then Kennedy needs to go strong to the basket, and get Hornigford into some foul trouble. I'm sure Garaway is a good team, but they did lose five games. So they do have their weaknesses. Chesapeake is also a better team then Barnsville. So I don't think you can judge how good the Pirates are from that game.

Go Panthers!!

Definition of Real Deal = Good enough to earn a scholarship offer to Michigan State to play basketball for Tom Izzo. So ya - I guess he might be a different player than from when you last saw him if Tom Izzo & Michigan State have taken notice.

According to rivals.com Honigford is 6'7' 190 lbs. While he is interested in Michigan St. He has not been offered a scholarship according to their website. I have seen past Chesapeake teams play against 6'11" 270 lb. center that had a scholarship to Kansas State. Now that is size, and Matt Rucker got to defend him. Heck if Copley was a few inches taller he would draw Division 1 interest.

I'm sure Izzo recruited another Garaway kid years ago and likes the court presence of this Honingford kid. I've seen him a few times, he's going to be a load for Chesapeake.

Good luck Pirates. Nice to see the Eastern District represented whenever possible at the Schott, BUT it'll take 2 more wins at the Convo (the best place to watch a basketball game in Ohio).

CHSPanthers I assume you are talking about Aaron Agnew from Bellaire? He went to Iowa State actually! He might have been listed at 290 lbs but he was probably really more like 330 LOL!

Yeah that was his name. That is scary size. I actually think that McMasters may match up better with Honigford than Kennedy.

Kennedy had a terrible shooting performance againist Zane Trace!I say leave Kennedy on him then that presents other matchup problems for Garaway having Mcmaster hopefully on a smaller guy!I look for him to score alot more than he did againist Zane Trace!I like Kennedy on the big kid better because he is a bit more physical than Mcmaster at this point! And you heard it here 1st,Look for the officials to call this game tight! 8)

The officials calling a tight one concerns me. Especially since Kennedy is known to get into foul trouble. At least hopefully the refs call it both ways.
