Both of those are sophs, they'll continue to get better as the season rolls on. Would take River to a whole 'nother level if they could get steady, efficient offensive output from one or both. Say 10-14 pts. combined, with a like number of rebounds. Maybe in 3-4 weeks they'll get close to those numbers on their own rebounds and putbacks.

Caldwell actually led that game in the second quarter and it was close at the half and most of the third. Trail put it away at the line an early in the fourth, Caldwell struggled with the two bigs for trail. Also think coach might have been proving a point to his players, switched out of the zone at half time and made them play straight man the second half, had they stayed zone they probably stay in the game til the end. They are improving. Trail has some nice young kids.

An off game for the entire night? They never led, trailed by 12 entering fourth quarter. Actually came back and tied it at 58 with 2:30 to play thanks to some bad decisions by Caldwell and an officiating crew that thought they were doing a football game. Final ended up 63-58. River has some good guards and a few nice role players. Good win for Caldwell, this is a learning process for them, they will take some lumps over the course of the year but they will only get better. There is not a single team in this league outside of possibly Frontier that you would call a gimme game right now.

newlex/sheridan- it's well known that eastern hates Caldwell, so any chance he has to put them down, he will. Don't expect him to give much credit to Caldwell for anything.

Carbon_dated- are you sure that was the score of the Rosecrans/Shadyside game? On one of the local sports shows they had the score as 49-48, not 79-48.

Disappointment again for the Pilots. Not playing up to their potential the last two games, especially last night. Have got to get some things figured out. You can see the skill, but they can't seem to put together 4 quarters of consistent play. Either their shooting goes ice cold for stretches and even though they are only averaging around 8 turnovers per game, 4-5 of them come at the same time they aren't shooting well. That's what happenend in the last 2 games and both times they fell behind by 3 or more possessions and had to claw their way back, only to run out of gas in the last 2 mins. They are indeed better than than 2-2, talent-wise, but can't find their way right now. They better get it fixed in a hurry, cause WV AA power Magnolia comes calling next week. They are without doubt the best team on River's schedule.

they shot horribly after the 1st quarter, lost assignments on defense, missed the front end of a one and bonus, and the back end of two others in the last 2 and half mins.

But, you are right, overall they played well. Just not well enough to pull out the "W". Those things I just listed are what got them beat, only a moral victory is gained in playing well and losing. When your starting 4 senior lettermen, there is no such thing. You have to win your Home games, whether by 1 or 21, doesn't matter. FF is winning their close games this year, the difference thus far over the first 10 games of last season. I've already given them kudos for just winning, baby.

Heard Tucker Brown had an ill-advised charging call in the final seconds to wipeout a scoring chance?
