what????

our big man Dion Mckinley had 18 points inside,Wayne Evans had 22 points, and Andrew Bendolph had 20..with around 9 assist...yeah thats ME ball......

Andrew is exactly what this team needed, a true Guard and his ability to shoot the ball only makes him better for us.

also , Kretzer for Waverly was far from a one man show they had another kid with as many points as him....."cant think of his name" sorry.

anyway,,great win for Portsmouth, and I think our Defense looked really good tonight.

Martin?

Biggdowgg, Good to see AB back in the lineup. Looks more balanced from a inside/outside perspective and I am sure Evans is going to get alot more clean looks from spot ups with AB's ability to penetrate and draw the defenders.

The kid you referenced from Waverly is Harrison Martin. IMO, he is the glue for Waverly. As a 4 year starter (1,000 pt) scorer and two time All-District Player, he is a load on the backboards and scores without having plays called for him. Inch for Inch, there is not many better around the rim.

Curious as to how the game flow went, as it looked close at the half and into the 3rd. With the Trojans pressure, I thought it would be reversed and the Trojans would get out early and then the Tigers pull back in it. Sounds like the pressure wore them down. A lot like my Cavs had happen to us against Bowman Academy.

Good hoops at Wellston this weekend. Great to see excellent teams and excellent individual talent on hand. It is off to Dayton to the Flyin to the Hoop next week. Another weekend of Hoopology at its best.

GO CAVS!!!

you ar right,Evans had some open shots, that he has not been used to up to this point, esp after Bendolph got settled in and started hitting his shots, Harrison ,and Kretzer are two great players and seemed to nail everything they shot,Waverly had a hard time when Portsmouth pressed and turned the ball over, Kretzer picked up his third foul and went to the bench in the 3rd,and Portsmouth went on a little run there,so he did not stay out long.

with bendolph back it also helps us on the defense, that is a big plus for Portsmouth.

best of luck to Waverly,,we played them some in summer ball, and their coaches and kids are all class acts.

Congratulations to the Trojans on the win.......and it is indeed great to have Andrew back in a Trojan uniform.......he makes us a MUCH better basketball team.........one in which it will be MUCH more difficult to press us, one that gives us a lock down defender out front to go along with D minded Wayne Evans, and one which will now have more octane on the offensive side of the court........the Trojans now have a trifecta of scoring threats (Bendolph, Evans, McKinley), all capable of going over 20+ points on any given night.

Great to see Coach Collins employ the full court press for the majority of the game.......that is music to Trojan fans' ears, and I do believe that it eventually did take its toll on the Tigers.

Waverly is a good basketball team that started slowly this year and has lost a number of close games........the combo of Martin and Kretzer are as good as any in the SE District.

It would appear that the speed of the game has picked up with Bendolph back in the lineup,77pts is the most they have scored all year by 10pts,I think coach Collins is right where he wants to be,and that is under the radar, this team can be dangerous.

How about the Dayton Jeff kids stealing all of Waverly's valuables from the locker room?

I was told that most of the Waverly player's items were recovered and will be returned. Approximately $2000 worth of phones, shoes and ipods.

Someone should be prosocuted for the theft. If I was administration at that school there would be not team.
Wellston needs to stagger how things are done. Let teams use classrooms so they can be locked up

I agree Wellston and their AD did not handle the situation correctly.

Portsmouth went to Cinccy a few years back and had this happen to them,,,,our kids had to load on the bus with their basketbakk uniforms on at haltime and get the heck out of there...Im thinking the school down there made good for the items that was taken,,they even took clothes :122246 .
each team should be provided a locker room with a key to lock their stuff up,or have somebody working the door to it

It is a shame if this did happen, as no one has a right to take anyone else's possessions. However, many of these tournaments tell the teams to bring a valuable back take it to the bench with you. With mutiple teams sharing locker rooms and volunteers trying to control all of this in can be difficult to make sure everything is secure. I am glad the kids got most of their stuff back. I am sure the Wellston faithful felt bad over this.

GO CAVS!!!
