Don't worry Bulldog64 - you guys have a long way to go to match 'ol L.R. & Auflick when it comes to being "Homers!" :122246

Needless to say - I never turned down the sound while listening to those two announce Tomcat football games - or while watching the Athens games ... I find it entertaining - much like the days when 'The Guru' (a.k.a. Jim Pancake) was doing e-xtra point ... You couldn't stand to listen sometimes, yet could never change the station or quit listening.

Sometimes you just say stupid things in the heat of the moment. I wish I could be as neutral as Jim, but I guess I'm not wired that way. I believe the comment about them never saying anything bad about the players of the other team was a way of saying we do. We have never bad mouthed another teams players or coaches. We go out of our way to praise them. And just so you know how I feel about the game at N-Y on Tuesday, The Buckeyes played a great game and the Bulldogs didn't. Cline, Cox, Moore, Dexter, Dean, and Swingle give N-Y six very good players. They certainly have enough talent to beat anyone in the league. Athens does have some sickness, but I'm sure every team is suffering from the same virus that's going around. No excuses at this end. They all played and tried their best. When the ball doesn't go in it's hard to win. The crowd was into the game and it was great to see the turnout. We were surprised by the low turnout at Athens, but the Buckeye fans were back in full force for the Bulldogs.
Our crew will continue to work to bring the Athens games to Nelsonville TV Cable and we hope we can make everyone happy, but we will continue to be pro-Athens. We can't do it anyother way. Motivator, leave the sound on, the game is so much better when you can hear the crowd, even if you can't stand the commentators. I'm happy you think we're "knowledgeable" and we will strive to get better. We really do want to do a good job for Joe and Betty, and if we can improve, we will certainly try to do so.

Gret post! Keep up the great work.

If you are one of the announcers for Athens, you are knowledgeable. I understand that coaching for so long can make you bitter toward officials, but keep in mind when one officiates for 20+ years he may start to not like the way some coaches act, or fans for that matter. Anyway, from what I have been told the announcers on 15 get paid, just like the officials do. Therefore, they are open to criticism just like the officials are IMO.
